Arch Manning Says His Future Remains Uncertain
Arch Manning, stepping into his first full season as Texas’s starting quarterback, isn’t rushing into any decisions about what comes next. While speculation has swirled about whether he could declare for the NFL Draft as soon as 2026, Manning is keeping his focus on the present.
When asked about his plans, Manning was quick to downplay any talk of timelines.
“Yeah, I don’t know where he got that from,” Manning said when asked about his grandfather Archie’s recent suggestion he would definitely stay through 2026. “I’m just taking it day by day.”
The 20-year-old quarterback also acknowledged the growing buzz surrounding him — from potential Heisman chatter to early NFL projections — but stressed that he isn’t buying into the hype.
“Talk is cheap. I’ve got to go prove it,” Manning said.
Family tradition could play a role in how things unfold. None of the Manning quarterbacks — Peyton, Eli, or Archie — left college early, and Arch is already one of the most marketable players in the country thanks to his name recognition and lucrative NIL opportunities. That removes some of the pressure to bolt for the NFL at the first chance.
Still, the reality is that Manning is eligible for the draft after the 2025 season, and scouts across the league are already watching closely. With only limited college experience so far, many believe he could benefit from additional development at Texas before making the leap.
For now, Manning insists the decision is far from made. His focus is on leading the Longhorns and proving himself on the field. The future, he says, will sort itself out in time.
