BEDFORD, Mass. — Boston College’s 2026 football recruiting class continues to take shape — and the latest addition is staying close to home. On Wednesday afternoon, Mekhi Volcy, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound wide receiver and defensive end from Bedford High School, announced his commitment to the Eagles via Instagram.
Volcy, a versatile two-way athlete, becomes the 20th member of Bill O’Brien’s 2026 recruiting class and the sixth in-state commit, signaling the head coach’s continued emphasis on building a regional foundation for the future.
“I am BLESSED to announce my commitment to play Division 1 football at Boston College,” Volcy wrote. “First off I would like to start by thanking God… my teammates and coaches… and everyone who has helped me get here.”
Explosive Frame with Two-Way Potential
Despite missing five games during his junior campaign due to injury, Volcy flashed dynamic potential. He totaled 19 receptions for 227 yards as a receiver, while recording 14 total tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 TFLs on defense. His size-speed combo — verified 4.54 40-yard dash and 11.3-second 100-meter time — makes him an intriguing athlete at the next level.
Volcy also brings impressive strength to the table: 15 bench reps at 185 lbs., a 415-lb squat, and a 515-lb deadlift underscore his physicality and work ethic.
He plays basketball during the winter and runs with the Mass Elite AAU football program in the summer, rounding out his multi-sport athletic résumé.
Building Through High School Talent
Bill O’Brien’s strategy since taking the reins in Chestnut Hill has been clear: develop from the ground up. Volcy is the latest example of that approach. Unranked by 247Sports at the time of his commitment, the Bedford standout fits the mold of a high-upside, culture-first player O’Brien believes in.
Boston College’s 2026 class, currently ranked No. 30 nationally per 247Sports, continues to gain traction with a blend of Northeast talent and national reach. Just two days ago, the program landed five-star kicker Jonathan Hewitt, and Volcy’s commitment adds yet another developmental building block.
