Buccaneers Extend GM Jason Licht and Head Coach Todd Bowles with Multi-Year Deals

TAMPA, Fla. (June 26, 2025) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are doubling down on stability at the top of the organization. The team announced Thursday that General Manager Jason Licht and Head Coach Todd Bowles have both signed multi-year contract extensions, cementing their leadership roles for the foreseeable future.

In a statement released by the franchise, Bucs owner Joel Glazer praised the duo’s contributions to Tampa Bay’s sustained success.

“Jason and Todd’s excellent leadership and vision have been critical to our organizational success, and the winning culture they have established has us well positioned into the future,” Glazer said. “Jason has evolved into one of the top talent evaluators and general managers in the NFL, while Todd has led us to three consecutive division titles and is one of the league’s leading defensive minds. Under their guidance, we will continue building towards another championship.”

Licht, who joined the organization in 2014, has overseen a dramatic turnaround that includes the 2020 Super Bowl title with Tom Brady and Bruce Arians, and the current era built around quarterback Baker Mayfield and Bowles. After some early struggles during his tenure, Licht’s savvy roster construction — including hits in the NFL Draft and free agency — has made him one of the more respected front-office minds in the league.

Bowles, originally hired by Arians as defensive coordinator in 2019, took over the head coaching role in 2022 following Arians’ retirement. While his defensive credentials were never in doubt, Bowles has silenced critics by guiding Tampa Bay to three straight NFC South titles and five consecutive playoff appearances — both franchise records.

The Buccaneers are also the only NFC team to have qualified for the postseason in each of the past five years, a testament to the front office’s consistency and the coaching staff’s adaptability despite roster turnover and a changing quarterback room.

With Licht and Bowles locked in, Tampa Bay enters the 2025 season with continuity, a clear vision, and a blueprint to remain a contender in the NFC.
