Burrow Dealing With Turf Toe Injury

Joe Burrow May Have Surgery Due to Turf Toe Injury

Star Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is dealing with a turf toe injury that could require surgery.

Images of the injury to Burrow’s left toe, suffered in the second quarter of Sunday’s 31-27 home win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, are being reviewed by noted foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson. If surgery is deemed necessary, Burrow could miss approximately three months.

Burrow was injured with 8:36 remaining in the second quarter when Jacksonville defensive end Arik Armstead sacked him, leaving him at the bottom of a pile. He initially tried to limp off the field but went down after a few steps. After several minutes in the blue medical tent, he attempted to walk to the locker room but stopped short and needed help from trainers to get inside.

He was first listed as questionable to return before being ruled out, finishing the day in a walking boot and on crutches. Coach Zac Taylor did not provide further details on his condition after the game.

In Burrow’s absence, backup Jake Browning rallied the Bengals to a comeback win, sealing the victory with a 1-yard leap into the end zone with 18 seconds remaining.
