SAN ANTONIO, Texas (June 21, 2025) — Despite a two-home run effort from Cam Cauley, the Frisco RoughRiders were edged out 3-2 by the San Antonio Missions on Saturday night at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. The defeat officially knocks Frisco out of contention for the Texas League South Division’s first-half postseason crown.
Cauley wasted no time making an impact, launching a leadoff home run in the top of the first inning — his seventh of the season — to give Frisco (37-30) a 1-0 lead. But the advantage was short-lived, as Francisco Acuña tied it up for San Antonio (39-29) in the second with an RBI double.
The game remained deadlocked until the seventh when Moises Gomez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, putting San Antonio ahead 2-1. Frisco reliever Gavin Collyer limited the damage by inducing an inning-ending groundout, preserving the one-run margin.
Cauley responded again in the eighth with his second solo blast of the game, evening the score at 2-2. It marked Cauley’s fourth career multi-homer game and his first since July 3, 2024, when he was with High-A Hickory.
However, the Missions walked it off in the ninth as Brandon Valenzuela dropped an RBI single into right field off Skylar Hales (1-4), sealing Frisco’s fate with a 3-2 loss. Jake Higginbotham (5-2) earned the win for San Antonio with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Game Notes:
- With one game remaining in the first half, San Antonio can clinch the division title with a win Sunday. A Missions loss would hand the crown to Midland based on their 7-5 season edge over San Antonio.
- Keyber Rodriguez tallied his 11th multi-hit game of the year.
- Collyer has been effective in high-leverage spots, allowing just four of 17 inherited runners to score this season.
The series wraps up Sunday night at 6:05 p.m. with Frisco’s Trey Supak (4-2, 4.56 ERA) set to face off against San Antonio’s Luis Patiño (0-0, 0.57 ERA) in a pivotal Texas League South finale.
