Dallas Wings Sign Haley Jones to Rest-of-Season Contract Ahead of Chicago Clash

Arlington, TX (July 9, 2025) — The Dallas Wings announced Wednesday that they have signed versatile guard-forward Haley Jones to a rest-of-season contract. The move reinforces a depleted roster as the team battles through injuries and a grueling summer schedule. Jones is expected to be available immediately, suiting up for tonight’s road matchup against the Chicago Sky at Wintrust Arena.

This marks a full-circle moment for Jones, who originally joined the Wings on a hardship contract on June 17 due to multiple roster absences. That stint came during a stretch when Maddy Siegrist and Ty Harris were sidelined with injuries, and Teaira McCowan and Luisa Geiselsöder were away on international duty at EuroBasket.

Jones was released on June 29, following the return of McCowan and Geiselsöder. Per WNBA rules, July 9 marked the first date she could re-sign under a standard contract. Now back on the Wings roster in a more permanent role, Jones will have the chance to build on her early success with the club.

Stepping Up When Needed

In her brief two-game appearance earlier this season, Jones made a strong impression. She averaged 4.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and shot an efficient 57.1 percent from the field, all while adjusting to a new system and playing through roster flux. Her standout performance came on June 28 against the Washington Mystics, when she posted eight points and seven rebounds to help lift Dallas to a key home win.

Her combination of size, playmaking ability, and poise on the perimeter gives the Wings an important rotational option as the team continues to lean heavily on its rookies and young core.

Wings in Need of Reinforcements

Dallas has faced considerable adversity this season. Entering Wednesday night’s game, the Wings are without four core contributors:

  • DiJonai Carrington (Rib – Out)

  • Ty Harris (Left Knee – Out)

  • Arike Ogunbowale (Left Thumb – Out)

  • Maddy Siegrist (Right Knee – Out)

With the team relying on four rookies in its starting lineup during the last two games, Jones’ return brings much-needed experience and versatility. Her ability to play multiple positions and contribute across the box score could be vital in the weeks ahead.

A Promising Talent Rejoins the Fold

A former Stanford standout and NCAA Champion, Jones entered the WNBA with a reputation as a high-IQ, unselfish player capable of impacting the game in multiple ways. Drafted by the Atlanta Dream in 2023, she has spent time with multiple teams over her young professional career, building a reputation as a valuable contributor off the bench.

For Dallas, her return represents more than just depth—it’s a chance to invest in a promising young talent who has already demonstrated the ability to contribute meaningfully on short notice.

Looking Ahead

The Wings are 6–14 on the season and looking to bounce back after a tough 102–72 loss to the Phoenix Mercury earlier this week. With three straight road games and a shorthanded roster, the addition of Jones could be pivotal.

Wednesday night’s game in Chicago is the final regular-season meeting between the Wings and Sky. With Jones rejoining the squad, fans and coaches alike will be watching closely to see how she fits into Dallas’ rotation moving forward.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT, airing locally on KFAA29 and streaming nationally on WNBA League Pass.
