STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | May 8, 2026 — The Dallas Wings officially revealed their newest WNBA Nike Rebel Edition uniform Friday morning, unveiling a design deeply rooted in the culture, architecture and historic women’s basketball legacy of the city of Dallas.
The Legacy of the Dallas Wings in Women’s Basketball
Created in partnership with the WNBA and Nike, the new Rebel Edition represents far more than just an alternate jersey. The uniform serves as a visual tribute to the past, present and future of women’s basketball in Dallas while symbolizing the organization’s upcoming transition into its future downtown home.
From the stitching and typography to the colors and skyline-inspired details, the Wings emphasized that every design element was intentional.
“The Wings Rebel Edition uniforms are an amazing representation of the past, present and future of women’s basketball in the city of Dallas,” said Wings CEO and Managing Partner Greg Bibb. “Every aspect of this uniform design was intentional — from the colors, to the stitching, to the fonts — there is meaning behind all of the choices.”
Bibb added that the organization wanted the uniform to honor the pioneers who helped establish women’s professional basketball in Dallas while also embracing the franchise’s next chapter.
The design process reportedly began nearly two years ago after the organization announced plans to move permanently into Dallas full-time. According to the team, the goal was to develop a uniform identity authentically connected to the city itself.
Perhaps the most meaningful tribute appears directly across the front of the jersey.
The script lettering used on the uniform was inspired by the historic Dallas Diamonds franchise that competed during the late 1970s and 1980s in the Women’s Basketball League (WBL) and Women’s American Basketball Association (WABA).
The Dallas Diamonds were among the foundational franchises in professional women’s basketball history, and the Wings incorporated multiple nods to the organization throughout the design. A diamond detail embedded into the “Wings” wordmark on the shorts further reinforces that connection.
The jersey also prominently features “Dallas” across the chest, emphasizing the franchise’s growing identity within the city and its future downtown presence.
Visually, one of the most striking aspects of the Rebel Edition is the return of royal blue.
The colorway serves as a tribute to the Wings’ early years in North Texas and revives a fan-favorite look not seen on the court since 2017. The bold blue palette immediately distinguishes the Rebel Edition from the team’s standard Heroine and Explorer uniforms.
Several additional details pay tribute to some of Dallas’ most recognizable landmarks.
The shorts incorporate patterns inspired by the city’s iconic cable and arch bridge designs, including the world-famous Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. Meanwhile, the jersey piping features a crisscross design modeled after the illuminated aluminum framework of Reunion Tower.
The result is a uniform that blends modern design with historical symbolism while embracing the city’s visual identity.
The Rebel Edition will officially debut Saturday, May 9, when the Wings open the 2026 regular season on the road against the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The team will then wear the uniforms for the first time at home during the highly anticipated May 12 home opener against the Atlanta Dream at College Park Center.
Fans attending the home opener will also have an opportunity to experience a special Rebel Edition uniform showcase exhibit on the concourse, featuring close-up displays of the design elements and storytelling details incorporated into the collection.
The timing of the release arrives during one of the most anticipated seasons in franchise history.
Led by stars like Arike Ogunbowale, Paige Bueckers and No. 1 overall pick Azzi Fudd, the Wings are entering 2026 with heightened national attention and growing expectations both on and off the court.
Now, with the unveiling of the Rebel Edition, Dallas has created a uniform that reflects not only the city’s basketball history but also the rising energy surrounding the future of the franchise.
