DC Defenders Dominate UFL Championship Behind Historic Jordan Ta’amu Performance

ST. LOUIS, MO — In a game that was supposed to crown the best of the best, it was Jordan Ta’amu and the DC Defenders who left no doubt. The veteran quarterback delivered a record-setting performance, throwing for 390 yards and accounting for five total touchdowns as DC rolled past the Michigan Panthers 58–34 to claim the UFL Championship in emphatic fashion.

Ta’amu’s outing etched his name into league history, setting a new UFL single-game passing record and delivering the kind of statement that will be talked about for seasons to come. His highlight reel was headlined by a 73-yard bomb to wideout Ty Scott, who finished with a game-high 126 receiving yards.

💥 Offensive Explosion

The Defenders’ offense was simply unstoppable. Ta’amu showcased elite command of the game, dissecting Michigan’s defense from start to finish. DC built a sizeable early lead and never looked back, scoring on seven of their first nine possessions and finishing with a season-best 58 points — the highest output by any team in a UFL title game.

🛡️ Defensive Pressure Sets the Tone

Coordinator Blake Williams’ defense came in with a mission and made life difficult for Michigan quarterback EJ Perry, consistently collapsing the pocket and forcing errant throws. Although the Panthers found a rhythm late, DC’s front seven set the tone early, allowing the offense to open the game up.

🔄 Michigan’s Late Spark

The Panthers did show signs of life in the fourth quarter. Trailing by a wide margin, Michigan successfully executed the UFL’s onside kick alternative — a fourth-and-12 play from their own 28-yard line — not once, but twice, giving them extra possessions and briefly cutting the lead to 18. However, the Defenders answered each attempt with poise and quick-strike scoring of their own to put the game out of reach.

🏆 Statement Made

With the win, the DC Defenders not only secured the UFL Championship but sent a clear message to the rest of the league. Behind a record-shattering performance from Ta’amu and a defensive game plan that stifled one of the league’s most balanced offenses, DC proved they were the most complete team in the United Football League.

“This is what we worked for,” Ta’amu said postgame. “To go out there and finish the job like that — it means everything.”
