This is a brutal scheduling spot for the Dallas Wings. Playing the final leg of a three-game road swing is taxing enough, but doing so right after an emotionally draining collapse against the Dream adds a psychological hurdle. Dallas struggled mightily with interior defense and rebounding against Atlanta, getting out-rebounded 35-26.
That bodes terribly against a lethal New York frontcourt. Expect former MVP Breanna Stewart (coming off 18 points, 9 rebounds) and interior anchor Jonquel Jones (16 points, 8 rebounds) to aggressively exploit the Wings’ inside weaknesses early. Under first-year head coach Chris DeMarco, the Liberty will be highly disciplined following their blowout loss to Golden State. Both offenses are searching for answers after ugly showings on the perimeter. Dallas shot a frosty, season-low .378 from the field on Friday and only generated 12 free-throw attempts. New York wasn’t much better on Thursday, sputtering to just 70 points against the Valkyries’ defensive pressure.
