STWF Sports| WEST POINT, N.Y.| October 10, 2026 — Tulane returns from its first open week of the season looking to carry momentum into American Conference play when the Green Wave travel to face Army on Saturday at Michie Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT on CBS Sports Network. Tulane enters the matchup 2-2 overall and 0-0 in conference play, while Army is also 2-2 overall and owns a 1-1 mark in league action.
The meeting will be the 26th all-time between the programs, with Tulane holding a 14-10-1 series advantage. The Green Wave have won five of the last six matchups, including several close finishes dating back to 2015.
Tulane will also be looking to extend one of the nation’s longest active streaks in close games. The Green Wave have won nine consecutive contests decided by eight points or fewer, the longest such streak in the country.
Green Wave Riding Momentum From Southern Miss Win
Tulane enters Saturday after a dramatic 24-21 victory over Southern Miss in the Battle for the Bell.
Running back Maurice Turner was the difference-maker, rushing for more than 200 yards and delivering a 74-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. His performance earned him American Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Turner became just the second player in Yulman Stadium history to rush for at least 200 yards and the first Tulane player in more than two decades to record three runs of 40 yards or longer in the same game.
The victory moved Tulane to 45-15 over its last 60 games, a stretch that places the program among the nation’s winningest teams since the start of the 2022 season.
Conference Success Has Become the Standard
Few programs have been better in league play than Tulane over the last several seasons.
The Green Wave are 29-3 in regular-season conference games since 2022, a .906 winning percentage that ranks second nationally over that span. Tulane has won 24 of its last 26 regular-season conference games entering Saturday.
That success has traveled well.
Tulane has won 19 road games since the beginning of 2022, tied for the most nationally during that stretch. That road toughness will be tested in West Point against an Army team that is difficult to prepare for because of its physical rushing attack and ball-control style.
Army Presents a Different Challenge
Army returns home after a narrow 31-29 loss at Louisiana Tech.
Running back Samari Howard is coming off a career performance, rushing for 158 yards on 12 carries, including a 54-yard touchdown. The Black Knights have also shown explosive potential this season, producing 648 total yards in their opener against Bryant, the fourth-highest single-game total in program history.
Army has won eight of its last 13 games dating back to last season and will look to use its ground game and home-field advantage to slow Tulane’s tempo.
The Black Knights also enter with a familiar opponent across the field. Tulane and Army split their last two meetings, including Army’s 35-14 win in the 2024 American Conference Championship and Tulane’s 24-17 victory last season.
Key for Tulane: Control the Ground Game
Tulane’s recent success has often started with the run game.
The Green Wave have outrushed opponents in 41 of their last 58 contests and own a 38-3 record in those games. Tulane has also won 36 straight when outrushing an opponent by at least 25 yards.
That formula could be critical against Army.
Defensively, Tulane has also been strong in several specialty areas, including fourth-down defense and kick coverage. Safety Kevin Adams III has emerged as one of the nation’s top tacklers, while punter William Hudlow continues to rank among the national leaders in punting average.
For head coach Will Hall, Saturday represents the first conference test of his Tulane tenure.
The Green Wave have built their recent identity around close-game execution, road toughness and conference consistency. Against Army, all three will be tested at once.
