FC Dallas Star Petar Musa Headed Back to Croatia National Team

STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas | March 9, 2026) — The early-season form of Petar Musa has earned international recognition once again. The FC Dallas forward has been called up to represent the Croatia national football team for a pair of high-profile international friendlies later this month. Croatia will face Colombia national football team on March 26 before taking on Brazil national football team on March 31. Both matches will be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

The call-up continues a productive stretch for Musa, who has quickly established himself as one of the most dangerous attacking players in Major League Soccer since arriving in North Texas.

Strong Start to 2026 Season

Musa opened the 2026 MLS campaign in impressive fashion, scoring twice in FC Dallas’ season opener against Toronto FC on Feb. 21. The brace made him one of only two players in club history to score multiple goals in a season-opening match.

The performance also moved Musa further up the FC Dallas scoring chart. With 36 goals in a Dallas uniform, the Croatian striker is now tied with former forward Blas Pérez for the fourth-most goals in club history.

Through the early portion of the season, Musa has remained central to Dallas’ attacking identity, providing a physical presence up front and consistent finishing ability inside the penalty area.

Record-Breaking 2025 Campaign

Musa’s national team selection comes on the heels of a remarkable 2025 season in which he cemented his place in the club’s record books.

The striker scored 19 goals across all competitions last year, tying club legend Jason Kreis for the most goals by a Dallas player in a single season. His scoring form helped lead FC Dallas through a competitive Western Conference campaign and into the MLS Cup Playoffs.

One of Musa’s most memorable moments came in the postseason, when he scored his first playoff goal for the club during Dallas’ final match of the season against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Nov. 1, 2025.

Dallas acquired Musa during the 2024 offseason in what was the largest transfer deal in the club’s history, a move that quickly paid dividends as he emerged as the focal point of the team’s attack.

European Experience

Before joining FC Dallas, Musa built an impressive résumé across several European leagues.

The striker spent two seasons with Portuguese powerhouse S.L. Benfica, where he scored 17 goals in 66 appearances and helped the club capture the 2022–23 Liga Portugal title as well as the Portuguese Super Cup.

He also had a productive loan spell with Boavista FC, scoring 11 goals, and spent time in Germany with Union Berlin.

Earlier in his career, Musa played in the Czech Republic for Slavia Prague, Slovan Liberec, and Viktoria Žižkov. During his time with Slavia Prague, he captured two league titles, a Czech Cup, and the league’s Golden Boot during the 2019–20 season.

International Career Continues

A native of Zagreb, Musa continues to build his role with Croatia’s senior national team. He has earned six caps since making his debut in a 1–1 draw against Wales national football team during European Championship qualifying on March 25, 2023.

Musa also made an impact during Croatia’s most recent international window in November 2025. He scored his first senior international goal in a 3–1 victory over the Faroe Islands national football team and recorded an assist in a match against Montenegro national football team.

Prior to joining the senior squad, Musa represented Croatia at both the U-21 and U-18 levels, making a combined 14 appearances in youth international competitions.

Looking Ahead

For FC Dallas, Musa’s call-up underscores the growing international profile of the club and its players. The forward will now have the opportunity to test himself against two of the world’s top national teams while continuing to represent both his country and his MLS club on a global stage.

With his goal-scoring form carrying into the new season, Musa’s international appearance could provide another platform for the Croatian striker to showcase the attacking ability that has quickly made him one of FC Dallas’ most important players.
