Frisco and Mansfield Earn Major FIFA World Cup 2026 Honors

FRISCO, Texas (March 3, 2026) — North Texas continues to strengthen its role in global soccer as FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco and Mansfield Stadium have officially been designated as Team Base Camp Training Sites for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The announcement further cements the Dallas–Fort Worth region as a central hub for the tournament, which will bring the world’s top national teams and millions of global viewers to North America in 2026.

Under FIFA’s Team Base Camp program, each participating national team is assigned a primary training headquarters where it will prepare, train, and manage operations throughout the competition. These locations serve as home bases for teams during the group stage and potentially deeper runs in the tournament.

For North Texas, the selection of two base camp facilities reflects both the region’s infrastructure and its long-standing investment in soccer development.

“We are thrilled that both FC Dallas Stadium and Mansfield Stadium have been selected as Team Base Camp Training Sites for FIFA World Cup 2026,” said Monica Paul, president of the North Texas FWC Organizing Committee. “North Texas had several outstanding facilities and municipalities submit strong proposals during the selection process. While many were deserving, we’re honored to have two sites chosen and are confident they will represent our region at the highest level.”

The Frisco facility, commonly known as Toyota Stadium, has long been regarded as one of the premier soccer complexes in the United States. The campus includes 17 tournament-grade fields, elite training amenities, and the National Soccer Hall of Fame, making it an ideal environment for international teams preparing for the sport’s biggest stage.

According to the current qualification pathway, FC Dallas Stadium will host the winner of UEFA Play-Off Path B. The national teams competing in that pathway include Poland national football team, Sweden national football team, Ukraine national football team, and Albania national football team.

Dan Hunt, president of FC Dallas and co-chair of the North Texas FWC Organizing Committee, called the announcement a milestone for the region.

“Being selected as Team Base Camp Training Sites reinforces what we’ve believed for a long time — that this region is the epicenter of FIFA World Cup 2026,” Hunt said. “These facilities reflect years of investment in infrastructure, player development, and community partnerships. We’re proud to play a role in hosting the world’s best teams and welcoming the soccer world to North Texas.”

Meanwhile, Mansfield Stadium will host the winner of UEFA Play-Off Path D. The potential national teams assigned to that pathway include the Denmark national football team, Czech Republic national football team, Republic of Ireland national football team, and North Macedonia national football team.

Still under construction and scheduled to open later this year, Mansfield Stadium will serve as the home of North Texas SC, the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of FC Dallas. The stadium will anchor the 250-acre Staybolt Street development, a large-scale mixed-use project featuring residential spaces, retail districts, entertainment venues, and a hotel and conference center.

REV Entertainment president Sean Decker emphasized the significance of the designation for the new venue.

“Opening Mansfield Stadium as a Team Base Camp is an incredible opportunity and a defining moment for the venue,” Decker said. “We’re grateful to the City of Mansfield, the Hunt family and our partners at FC Dallas for their vision and collaboration in making this possible.”

Beyond training facilities, North Texas will play a major operational role throughout the tournament. Arlington’s AT&T Stadium is scheduled to host nine World Cup matches, while the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will serve as the International Broadcast Center. Fair Park will host a multi-week fan festival designed to bring supporters together from around the world.

For local leaders, the announcement signals more than just a sporting event.

“The World Cup is finally here,” said Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney. “We’ve been looking forward to this moment for years, and we’re excited to welcome visitors from across the globe and show them what our community has to offer.”

With world-class facilities, expanding infrastructure and global attention on the region, North Texas is preparing to take center stage when the world’s most celebrated sporting event arrives in 2026.
