Game Preview: Frisco RoughRiders (41-37) vs Arkansas Travelers (42-37) – Bratt Set to Start

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 5, 2025) — The Frisco RoughRiders return to Dickey-Stephens Park on Saturday night aiming to snap a two-game skid as they face the Arkansas Travelers in the fifth matchup of a six-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT with left-hander Mitch Bratt (4-2, 2.65 ERA) toeing the rubber for Frisco opposite right-hander Dylan File (4-1, 4.99 ERA) of the Travelers.

Frisco (3-7, 41-37), the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, was shut out 2-0 on Friday night despite a strong showing from starter David Davalillo, who tossed four no-hit innings and struck out five in a dominant outing. The Venezuelan lefty retired the final 12 batters he faced after issuing a leadoff walk and handed the ball off to the bullpen with the game still scoreless.

Unfortunately for the RoughRiders, Arkansas (7-3, 42-37), Seattle’s Double-A affiliate, broke through in the bottom of the sixth. Axel Sanchez roped an RBI double to right-center to plate the first run of the night before Bill Knight grounded out to bring in another, giving the Travelers a 2-0 advantage that would hold the rest of the way.

Frisco’s offense scattered seven hits but failed to string them together. Keyber Rodriguez and Sebastian Walcott both recorded multi-hit games, combining to go 4-for-8, but the Riders left five men on base and couldn’t capitalize in key spots.

Reliever Jackson Kelley (0-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing both runs across two innings of work. Meanwhile, Arkansas starter Adam Seminaris turned in 5.2 scoreless innings, striking out six before handing it off to the bullpen. Taylor Floyd earned the win in relief with two dominant innings, and Charlie Beilenson recorded his first Double-A save with a clean ninth.

Bratt Aims to Steady the Ship

Tonight, the Riders will look to even the series behind southpaw Mitch Bratt, who enters with one of the most consistent arms in the Texas League. The Canadian lefty sports a 2.65 ERA over 11 starts and is averaging nearly a strikeout per inning. Bratt’s ability to pitch deep into games and work efficiently has helped him emerge as one of the most reliable arms in Frisco’s rotation.

His counterpart, Dylan File, has been more up and down. The Arkansas right-hander has a 4.99 ERA through nine appearances but has benefited from solid run support and has not taken a loss since early June. Frisco’s lineup will look to attack early and capitalize on any command issues from the veteran hurler.

What to Watch

  • Keyber Keeps Climbing: Rodriguez continues to swing a hot bat. Since June 17, the shortstop leads the Texas League in average (.455) and has emerged as a spark plug at the top of the lineup.

  • Rookie Watch: After recording a hit in Friday’s game, Sebastian Walcott now has hits in five of his last six starts. The 18-year-old phenom continues to gain valuable experience at the Double-A level.

  • Run Support Needed: Frisco has scored just five runs over the last three games and has been held scoreless in two of its last four. With Bratt on the mound, the offense will need to offer some cushion to get back in the win column.

Series Implications

The six-game series currently favors Arkansas 3-1, with two games remaining. Frisco entered the week tied with the Travelers in the standings, but now trails them by a game in both the second-half race and overall record. A win Saturday would set the stage for a potential series split on Sunday.

Up Next

Following Saturday’s game, the series finale between the RoughRiders and Travelers will take place on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:35 p.m. CT before Frisco heads back to Riders Field for their next homestand.
