NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 6, 2025) — After an emphatic 6-1 victory Saturday night, the Frisco RoughRiders aim to close out their six-game set with the Arkansas Travelers on a high note as they clash one final time Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. from Dickey-Stephens Park.
Frisco (42-37) snapped a three-game skid with Saturday’s win and will now look to split the series 3-3 behind the arm of right-hander Trey Supak (5-2, 4.17 ERA). Opposing him for Arkansas (42-38) is righty Marcelo Perez (0-0, 4.50 ERA), who will make his second appearance of the season for the Travelers.
Recapping Saturday’s Statement Win
Saturday’s victory featured a well-rounded performance from the RoughRiders, who scored six unanswered runs after falling behind early. The scoring was sparked by a fifth-inning rally that saw Cam Cauley and Keith Jones II deliver back-to-back RBI singles, flipping a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead.
In the sixth, Cauley struck again with an RBI double, continuing a dominant series at the plate. The game’s biggest blow came an inning later when Frainyer Chavez launched a three-run home run deep to right, stretching the lead to 6-1 and all but sealing the victory.
Starter Mitch Bratt (5-2) earned the win, tossing six innings of one-run ball while allowing just three hits and striking out eight. It was Bratt’s sixth quality start of the season, and he now leads the Texas League with 91 strikeouts.
The bullpen held firm, with Travis MacGregor, Gerardo Carrillo, and Josh Mollerus each throwing a scoreless inning to preserve the win.
Sunday’s Pitching Matchup
Frisco turns to Trey Supak, who has provided consistent innings throughout the year. Supak has delivered five quality starts in his last seven outings and enters Sunday with a 4.17 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 58.1 innings.
Arkansas counters with Marcelo Perez, who made his Double-A debut on June 27 and has yet to factor into a decision. The former TCU standout tossed four innings and allowed two runs in his first outing and will be tested by a Frisco lineup finding its rhythm late in the series.
Key Players to Watch
Cam Cauley is heating up in a big way. The infielder has six RBIs this week alone — tied for second-most in the Texas League during that stretch — and continues to thrive in high-leverage spots. Frainyer Chavez, meanwhile, showed his power potential with Saturday’s three-run blast, his third home run of the season.
Keyber Rodriguez and Sebastian Walcott have been catalysts for Frisco’s offense throughout the series. The duo combined for four of the team’s seven hits in Friday’s narrow 2-0 loss and continue to provide consistent production.
On Arkansas’s side, Josh Hood delivered the Travelers’ lone RBI Saturday, and Axel Sanchez, who has come through with clutch hits earlier in the series, remains a dangerous bat in the middle of the order.
Series at a Glance
The six-game series has seen plenty of momentum swings. Arkansas opened the set with two wins, Frisco answered with a comeback victory, and the Travelers bounced back with back-to-back wins before Frisco’s bounce-back Saturday.
Sunday’s finale not only determines the outcome of the series, but could also serve as a potential springboard for either club heading into a new week of action.
What’s at Stake
With the Texas League South race tightening, every win counts. Frisco sits just outside the division’s top spot and will aim to head home with a split series against a competitive Travelers squad. Arkansas, just one game back of Frisco in the standings, could leapfrog the Riders with a win.
First pitch is slated for 1:35 p.m. CT.
