Game Preview: Frisco RoughRiders at Arkansas Travelers – Look to Rebound

Arlington, TX (July 4, 2025) — The Frisco RoughRiders (3-6, 41-36) hit the road for the Fourth of July as they take on the Arkansas Travelers (6-3, 41-37) in the fourth game of their six-game series at Dickey-Stephens Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. CT as Frisco aims to bounce back following Thursday night’s 8-5 loss — a game that also marked a historic attendance milestone for the organization.

In front of a franchise-record 12,081 fans at Riders Field, Frisco battled but ultimately came up short in a game where early-inning struggles proved costly. Arkansas jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning behind a wild pitch and a Jared Sundstrom sacrifice fly. The RoughRiders responded in the bottom half as Sebastian Walcott knocked in a run with a groundout and Keith Jones II followed with an RBI double to tie the game.

However, the Travelers exploded for five unanswered runs over the next two frames. Ben Ramirez’s RBI double and Axel Sanchez’s two-run homer highlighted a three-run second inning, while Hogan Windish’s RBI double in the third made it 7-2.

Texas Rangers top prospect Wyatt Langford, currently on a rehab assignment, offered a bright spot for Frisco with a leadoff homer in the third — his sixth career blast in just 15 games at Double-A. Abimelec Ortiz and Marcus Smith chipped in with RBI efforts, but Arkansas’ early cushion proved insurmountable.

Left-hander Reid VanScoter (4-1) earned the win for Arkansas, allowing four runs across six innings of work. Frisco starter Josh Stephan (5-4) suffered the loss after surrendering seven runs over five innings, despite retiring the final five batters he faced.

Key Storylines to Watch:

  • Rebound Potential: Frisco will need a sharper start on the mound after allowing early leads in back-to-back contests. Their ability to limit Arkansas’ first-inning scoring will be pivotal.

  • Langford’s Progress: All eyes remain on Langford’s continued rehab stint. The slugger is batting .392 in his Frisco career and continues to show power and plate discipline.

  • RoughRiders’ Bullpen Usage: With the series nearing its midpoint, expect bullpen depth to play a critical role — especially as Frisco looks to stabilize a pitching staff that has allowed 15 runs in the last two games.

The RoughRiders will look to even the series Friday night as they continue their road swing through Arkansas. Starters for both teams are expected to be announced prior to game time.
