NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (July 6, 2025) — The Frisco RoughRiders couldn’t capitalize on late-inning opportunities and dropped their series finale to the Arkansas Travelers, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at Dickey-Stephens Park. Arkansas (8-4, 43-38) came out hot with a five-run burst across the first two innings and rode the early cushion to a series-clinching win.
The Travelers wasted no time in setting the tone. In the bottom of the first, Connor Charping ripped a two-run double into the left-center gap, scoring two and firing up the home crowd. Moments later, Lazaro Montes added an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0 before Frisco could record a third out.
Charping returned in the bottom of the second and delivered again, driving a two-run single to right field to extend Arkansas’ lead to 5-0. The Riders’ starter, Trey Supak, struggled to settle in during the early innings, but found his rhythm afterward, retiring 13 of his final 14 batters to finish six full innings of work. He struck out six but was tagged with the loss, falling to 5-3 on the season.
Despite the early deficit, Frisco (4-8, 42-38) continued to battle. In the top of the seventh, Keith Jones II came through with an RBI single to plate Frainyer Chavez and break up the shutout. The Riders then loaded the bases with a chance to cut deeper into the Travelers’ lead, but Arkansas reliever Nick Davila slammed the door. Davila fanned Abimelec Ortiz to end the threat and went on to retire all seven batters he faced, earning a clutch multi-inning save in the process.
Travelers starter Marcelo Perez (2-0) earned the win with an efficient five-inning performance, scattering just four hits while keeping Frisco scoreless. Perez struck out three and walked one as he picked up his second victory of the season.
Frisco’s offense couldn’t generate sustained pressure, despite out-hitting the Travelers 7-6. The team left seven runners on base and was held hitless in key scoring moments. The loss concluded a six-game road series in which the RoughRiders went 2-4, falling behind in the second-half standings of the Texas League South Division.
