Game Recap: Arkansas Travelers 8 vs Frisco RoughRiders 5 – Record Crowd

FRISCO, Texas (July 3, 2025) — In front of a franchise-record 12,081 fans at Riders Field, the Frisco RoughRiders couldn’t complete the comeback as they fell to the Arkansas Travelers, 8-5, on Thursday night.

The highly anticipated game saw Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford begin his rehab assignment in style, launching a solo homer in the third inning — his sixth in just 15 career games with the RoughRiders — but his spark wasn’t enough to overcome Arkansas’ early outburst.

The Travelers (6-3, 41-37) wasted no time jumping out to a lead. Blake Rambusch scored on a wild pitch and Jared Sundstrom added a sacrifice fly in the top of the first for a quick 2-0 edge. Frisco (3-6, 41-36) answered with a Sebastian Walcott RBI groundout and Keith Jones II’s RBI double to knot it up in the bottom half.

Arkansas then erupted for five runs across the next two innings. Ben Ramirez and Hogan Windish doubled in runs, while Axel Sanchez delivered a two-run homer in the second and later added an RBI single in the eighth to give the Travelers an 8-4 cushion.

Langford’s third-inning homer and Abimelec Ortiz’s fourth-inning double — followed by a run scored on a wild pitch — trimmed the deficit, but Arkansas held firm. Marcus Smith lifted a sacrifice fly in the ninth, but Jimmy Kingsbury closed the door for his third save of the season.
