Game Recap: Frisco RoughRiders 6-1 Win Over Arkansas Travelers – Strong Pitching

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 5, 2025) — Fueled by another dominant outing from left-hander Mitch Bratt and a steady offensive surge in the middle innings, the Frisco RoughRiders took down the Arkansas Travelers 6-1 on Saturday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.

The victory marked a crucial bounce-back for Frisco (4-7, 42-37), snapping a two-game skid and trimming Arkansas’ (7-5, 42-38) edge in the six-game series. Behind Bratt’s precision on the mound and timely production at the plate, the RoughRiders delivered a complete team performance to inch closer in the Texas League standings.

Pitching Powerhouse

Bratt (5-2) continued his breakout campaign with a gem, earning his sixth quality start of the season. The 20-year-old southpaw struck out eight batters across six innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run. With the outing, Bratt extended his lead in the Texas League strikeout race, now boasting 91 punchouts on the year.

After Arkansas jumped ahead in the third inning on Josh Hood’s RBI double, Bratt bore down, retiring the final nine batters he faced. His dominance set the tone and allowed the RoughRiders offense time to find its rhythm.

The bullpen trio of Travis MacGregor, Gerardo Carrillo, and Josh Mollerus took it the rest of the way, combining for three scoreless innings while allowing just one baserunner. In their last two games, Frisco’s pitching staff has yielded a combined three runs on only six hits, signaling a strong turnaround after early struggles in the series.

Offensive Breakthrough

The RoughRiders offense broke through in the top of the fifth inning, erasing Arkansas’ early lead. Cam Cauley, who’s been red-hot all week, lined an RBI single to score Sebastian Walcott and tie the game at one. Moments later, Keith Jones II followed with a go-ahead RBI knock of his own, giving Frisco a 2-1 advantage.

Cauley struck again in the sixth, doubling to the right-field corner to bring home Abimelec Ortiz and extend the lead to 3-1. The RBI marked his sixth of the series, tying him for the second-most in the Texas League over the past week.

Frisco delivered the knockout punch in the seventh. With two runners on, Frainyer Chavez stepped to the plate and launched a three-run homer over the head of Arkansas right fielder Lazaro Montes, blowing the game open at 6-1. It was Chavez’s second long ball of the season and the RoughRiders’ first homer of the series.

Arkansas Falters After Fast Start

Travelers starter Dylan File (4-2) looked sharp early, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings. But he began to labor in the fifth, allowing back-to-back RBI singles before being pulled. The Arkansas bullpen couldn’t contain Frisco’s momentum, surrendering four more runs over the next two innings.

Aside from Hood’s third-inning RBI double, the Travelers’ offense was stifled. The team failed to advance a runner past second base after the third inning, a credit to Frisco’s lockdown pitching.

By the Numbers

  • Cauley is now hitting .333 in July and has driven in six runs this week, tied for second-most in the league over that span.

  • Bratt’s ERA dropped to 2.57, placing him among the top five in the Texas League.

  • The RoughRiders improved to 11-6 in games when they hit at least one home run.

What’s Next

Frisco and Arkansas wrap up their six-game set on Sunday, July 6 at 1:35 p.m. from Dickey-Stephens Park. The RoughRiders will send RHP Trey Supak (5-2, 4.17 ERA) to the mound, while the Travelers counter with RHP Marcelo Perez (0-0, 4.50 ERA).

With Saturday’s win, Frisco will look to carry momentum into the finale and split the series before returning home.
