NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 4, 2025) – On a night that began with fireworks on the mound, it was the Arkansas Travelers who delivered the late-inning sparks, shutting out the Frisco RoughRiders 2-0 at Dickey-Stephens Park. Despite a dominant start from David Davalillo, Frisco (3-7, 41-37) dropped its fourth game in five contests and now trails 3-1 in the six-game series.
Davalillo dazzled in his outing, tossing four hitless innings while striking out five. After issuing a walk to the game’s first batter, the right-hander retired the next 12 Travelers in order, showcasing impeccable command and efficiency on just 53 pitches.
However, the Travelers (7-3, 42-37) capitalized once Davalillo exited. In the bottom of the sixth, Axel Sanchez broke the scoreless tie with an RBI double, followed by a Bill Knight RBI fielder’s choice that plated the game’s final run.
Frisco reliever Jackson Kelley (0-1) was tagged with the loss, despite a solid two-inning outing that included three strikeouts. Taylor Floyd (4-2) earned the win for Arkansas with two scoreless innings in relief, while Charlie Beilenson secured his first Double-A save with a clean ninth.
Offensively, Frisco outhit Arkansas 7-2 but couldn’t convert pressure into production. Keyber Rodriguez and Sebastian Walcott combined for four of the RoughRiders’ hits, yet the lineup stranded multiple runners in key situations.
Notables:
-
Davalillo’s Gem: His stretch of retiring 12 straight batters marked the RoughRiders’ longest streak since Kohl Drake’s 16 in a row during his May 7 no-hitter.
-
Offensive Stagnation: Frisco fell to 28-8 in games where they outhit their opponent, a rare stat line that underscores missed opportunities.
-
Rodriguez Stays Hot: The infielder is now batting .455 since June 17, ranking third in all of Minor League Baseball over that span.
The RoughRiders will look to rebound on Saturday night as LHP Mitch Bratt (4-2, 2.65 ERA) gets the start against Arkansas RHP Dylan File (4-1, 4.99 ERA). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. CT.
