“He’s Too Old!” – Boxing Stars Back Benn to Upset Chris Eubank Jr at Tottenham

STWF Sports| LONDON, England | (November 12, 2025) — Few rivalries in modern British boxing have burned as fiercely — or as personally — as Chris Eubank Jr vs. Conor Benn. Nearly two years since their first brutal meeting, the sons of two legendary fighters will collide again this Saturday night under the lights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the boxing world is sharply divided on who walks away victorious.

Eubank Jr enters as the bookmakers’ favorite, having claimed a unanimous decision win in their first encounter in April. But the narrative heading into the sequel feels far more uncertain. At 36 years old, Eubank Jr’s physical durability and ability to make the contracted 160-pound limit have become key talking points — especially given the dehydration issues that left him hospitalized after their previous clash.

Meanwhile, Benn, the naturally smaller man, has used the past several months to fully adjust to life above welterweight. The 28-year-old’s improved conditioning and aggressive energy have narrowed the odds dramatically, and many in the sport now believe his youth and pressure fighting could tilt the rematch in his favor.

Eubank Jr: Experience, Size, and Tactical Edge

Eubank Jr’s supporters point to his physical advantages, big-fight experience, and the presence of a world-class trainer in Brian “BoMac” McIntyre — the same man who guided Terence Crawford to multiple undisputed titles.

Former four-weight world champion Roy Jones Jr, who previously trained Eubank, believes the Brit’s size remains the deciding factor.

“Eubank probably should win again because of the size,” Jones told Boxing News. “But I think it will be a better fight than the first one.”

Spencer Oliver, former European champion and talkSPORT pundit, echoed that view.

“With BoMac now part of that team, tactically he [Eubank] will get it right. I think he’ll manage the weight better this time, which played a big part last time,” Oliver said.

Even Amir Khan, a former world champion known for his speed and technical skill, believes the edge still lies with Eubank Jr.

“Conor will do more this time, but Eubank’s got the confidence of beating him once before,” Khan told iFL TV. “He’s bigger, more experienced, and mentally strong — that counts in these fights.”

Legendary Welsh champion Joe Calzaghe — who famously fought Eubank Sr — kept his prediction simple:

“I wouldn’t want to put a bet on it, but if I had to, I’d go with the size again like I did in the first fight,” Calzaghe told talkSPORT.com.

Benn: Youth, Pressure, and Redemption

On the other side, Benn has drawn strong backing from respected voices who see hunger and growth as his greatest assets.

Former world champion James DeGale, an ex-Eubank foe, believes Benn’s discipline will make the difference this time.

“He just needs to do a little bit more, and he can win the fight,” DeGale said. “Conor Benn needs to be more disciplined and not let the occasion get to him — that’s what cost him the last time.”

Eddie Hearn, Benn’s promoter, has gone a step further — suggesting Saturday could mark Eubank Jr’s final fight.

“I think this will be his last fight,” Hearn said. “He’s had some tough nights. I believe Conor Benn will win next Saturday. But best of luck to both — may they both come out healthy.”

Meanwhile, Carl Froch, another former world champion, offered a nuanced prediction.

“Eubank’s size makes him a slight favorite, but I’m probably going to pick Conor Benn,” Froch told The Sun. “The freshness and what he learned from the first fight will be enough.”

And Tony Bellew believes the quick turnaround will favor the younger fighter.

“The younger man will be the fresher man,” Bellew told Sporting Talk. “I just feel Benn learns more from the last fight — I think this time he possibly does get rid of him.”

Even Liam Smith, who fought and lost to Eubank Jr two years ago, sees potential for an upset.

“I expected Chris to win the first fight, but Conor performed better than I thought,” Smith said on talkSPORT. “If you asked me to put my money where my mouth is, I think Conor might win this one.”

A Rivalry Renewed

Beyond the technical talk, the rematch carries generational weight. Their fathers — Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn — forged one of British boxing’s most iconic rivalries in the 1990s. Now, their sons are writing their own chapter in a feud that spans three decades.

Eubank Jr will look to cement his dominance and silence the skeptics. Benn, fueled by redemption and legacy, aims to flip the script and prove that youth and hunger can overcome experience.

Whatever happens on Saturday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, one thing is certain — boxing fans are set for another fiery, emotional showdown that will add another unforgettable chapter to the Benn-Eubank saga.
