Jaxson Dart Shuts Down Giants QB Doubts After Statement Win in Vegas

STWF Sports | Dec. 29, 2025 – It has been a miserable season by almost every measurable standard for the New York Giants, but amid the wreckage of a 2025 campaign spiraling toward the offseason, one thing remains unshaken inside the building: Jaxson Dart believes he is the franchise’s long-term answer under center.

Entering Week 17 with a 2–13 record, the Giants were staring down the ignominy of a matchup that symbolized the depths of the NFL cellar. Their trip to Allegiant Stadium to face the Las Vegas Raiders marked the first game in league history between two teams riding nine-game losing streaks. One more loss would have all but locked in pole position for the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft — and the chance to reset the organization yet again.

New York, however, showed no interest in tanking.

Behind a confident, resilient performance from their rookie quarterback, the Giants delivered a stunning 34–10 victory that snapped their skid and injected rare life into an otherwise forgettable season. Dart was at the center of it all, rushing for two touchdowns, managing the game with poise, and flashing the traits that convinced the front office to trade up and select him in the first round last April.

The performance arrived at a crucial moment, with speculation surrounding Dart’s future growing louder by the week. Ahead of kickoff, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Giants were expected to “evaluate all options” at quarterback if they found themselves holding the top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft — including Heisman Trophy-winning prospect Fernando Mendoza.

Those comments quickly found their way back to Dart.

Asked postgame whether he had seen the reports suggesting the Giants could already be looking beyond him, the 22-year-old was calm, direct, and unwavering.

“No, I did not,” Dart said. “I’m going to continue to play my ball. I know I’m going to be here for a very long time. I’m just excited to start winning more games and turn this place around.”

It was a confident declaration from a quarterback who has endured both the growing pains and scrutiny that come with leading a rebuilding franchise in New York. Dart went on to highlight the broader foundation being laid around him, pointing to the rookie class as evidence that brighter days are ahead.

“When you watch guys like Abdul Carter, Darius Alexander, Cam Skattebo — just seeing that rookie group,” Dart said. “We’ve got a really bright future. This is a big pivot point for us.”

The optimism was well-earned after a bounce-back performance that looked nothing like the one Dart delivered a week earlier. Against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16, the rookie endured the worst outing of his young career, throwing for just 33 yards and an interception in a lopsided loss. That performance reignited doubts about his readiness and durability, particularly after several games in which he absorbed unnecessary hits.

Sunday told a different story.

Dart completed 22 of 30 passes for 207 yards, added 48 rushing yards, and accounted for two touchdowns on the ground. More importantly, he played with improved situational awareness — sliding when needed, avoiding reckless contact, and limiting mistakes. He was sacked just twice and displayed visible leadership, energizing teammates on the sideline and celebrating key conversions.

“I’m going to make mistakes,” Dart admitted. “But I’m going to bounce back from them. You’ve got to keep playing your game and make adjustments.”

With the Giants now unlikely to secure the top overall pick, the conversation around drafting a replacement quarterback may cool — but it won’t disappear entirely. What Dart did in Las Vegas, however, was remind the organization why they invested in him in the first place.

For a team searching desperately for stability, Dart’s belief — in himself and in the future of the franchise — may be the most valuable building block of all.
