MIDLAND, TX — After a tense 10-inning battle on Friday night, the Frisco RoughRiders will look to carry their momentum into Saturday’s matchup against the Midland RockHounds at Momentum Bank Ballpark. Riding the high of a 3–2 extra-inning victory, Frisco (34–26) aims to even the series against division-rival Midland (35–26) as the first half of the Texas League season nears its final stretch.
🔙 Friday Recap: Late-Inning Drama
Frisco jumped on the board early with an RBI double from Josh Hatcher, plating Abimelec Ortiz for a 1–0 lead in the opening frame. Midland answered in the third with a Colby Halter RBI single to even things at one apiece.
Tension mounted late. The RoughRiders regained the lead in the eighth thanks to four patient walks, including a bases-loaded walk drawn by Jax Biggers. But with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Midland’s Henry Bolte crushed a game-tying solo homer off Gavin Collyer, forcing extras.
In the 10th, top prospect Sebastian Walcott delivered the decisive blow — a sacrifice fly to center that put Frisco ahead 3–2. Travis MacGregor nailed down the save with a clean bottom half, notching his second save of the season and sealing a much-needed win.
🔍 Riders Bats: Power Drought, Doubles Surge
While Frisco’s offense has cooled in the power department — going four straight games without a home run and hitting just one homer in their last five — they’ve made up for it in gap-to-gap hitting. The RoughRiders lead the Texas League with nine doubles over that same span.
Frisco is averaging just 3.2 runs per game while slashing .196/.279/.285 over their last five outings. The lineup will be looking to break out of the funk as they continue to battle for positioning in a tight South Division race.
🔦 Player Spotlights
Mitch Bratt – Tonight’s Starting Pitcher
The 20-year-old left-hander Mitch Bratt will take the mound for Frisco, coming off a dominant May that earned him Texas Rangers Minor League Starting Pitcher of the Month honors. Bratt went 3–0 with a 1.33 ERA in five starts last month, boasting a 10.33 K/BB ratio, which ranked fifth across MiLB (minimum five starts).
His month was highlighted by a career-best outing on May 10, when he struck out 10 batters in six shutout innings against San Antonio.
Cam Cauley – Rangers’ Defender of the Month
Infielder/outfielder Cam Cauley was also recognized by the Rangers’ system as Defender of the Month. Cauley posted a .975 fielding percentage across 26 games in May, showcasing versatility by splitting time between second base and center field — where he notched his first two career outfield assists.
🧢 What’s at Stake
With just a game separating the two clubs in the Texas League South standings, tonight’s contest holds weight as Frisco looks to build on Friday’s victory and stay within striking distance of the top spot. A strong outing from Bratt could be the key to leveling the series before the teams wrap up the set on Sunday.
