MiLB Game Preview: Perfect at Home Our Frisco RoughRiders Roll to 4-0 Start With Blowout Win

Frisco RoughRiders Opening Day 2026

STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | April 7, 2026 The Frisco RoughRiders continued their blistering start to the 2026 season Tuesday night, overpowering the Midland RockHounds 9-1 in their home opener at Riders Field to remain the only undefeated team in the Texas League South.

Frisco (4-0) used patience at the plate and timely hitting to break the game open early, while a dominant pitching performance ensured the momentum never shifted.

Third-Inning Breakthrough Sparks Rally

After a quiet start through the first two innings, the RoughRiders capitalized on control issues from Midland starter Kenya Huggins in the third.

With one out, Huggins issued four consecutive walks, including a bases-loaded free pass to John Taylor that brought home the game’s first run. That sequence opened the floodgates for Frisco’s offense.

Orlando Martinez followed with an RBI single, and the rally quickly escalated. Marcus Lee Sang and Tucker Mitchell each delivered two-run singles, turning a narrow lead into a commanding 6-0 advantage in a single inning.

The RoughRiders’ disciplined approach forced Midland into difficult counts and created opportunities that the lineup efficiently converted, continuing a trend that has defined Frisco’s early-season success.

Trentadue Sets the Tone

Left-hander Josh Trentadue made his season debut on the mound and provided a steady performance, working four strong innings while striking out four batters.

Trentadue kept Midland’s hitters off balance, limiting hard contact and maintaining control before handing the game over to the bullpen.

From there, Wilian Bormie and the RoughRiders’ relief corps took over and delivered a near-flawless finish. The bullpen combined to face the minimum over the final five innings, allowing just one run and effectively shutting down any potential comeback attempt.

Bormie earned the win, while Huggins was charged with the loss.

Adding On and Pulling Away

Frisco continued to build its lead in the middle innings.

Sacrifice flies from Taylor and Frainyer Chavez added insurance runs, extending the gap and keeping pressure on the RockHounds’ pitching staff. The decisive blow, however, came in the fifth inning.

With one out, Ian Moller connected on a 3-2 pitch and launched it over the left-field terrace for his first home run of the season. The blast also marked the first home run hit by the RoughRiders at Riders Field in 2026, punctuating another strong offensive showing.

Pitching Excellence Continues

While the offense delivered nine runs, the RoughRiders’ pitching remained the defining storyline.

Through four games, Frisco has yet to allow an extra-base hit, a remarkable statistic that underscores the staff’s ability to limit damage and control opposing lineups. Midland managed just four hits in the contest, all singles, as Frisco’s pitchers continued to execute at a high level.

The combined effort from the rotation and bullpen has established the RoughRiders as one of the most balanced teams in Minor League Baseball to open the season.

Consistent Contributors

Offensively, Tucker Mitchell and Keyber Rodriguez remained key contributors, each recording two-hit performances. Both players now lead the team—and the Texas League—with eight hits through the first four games of the season.

The lineup’s depth has been evident throughout the opening stretch, with multiple players contributing in each game and maintaining consistent pressure on opposing pitchers.

Looking Ahead

With the victory, the RoughRiders improved to 4-0 and moved within reach of matching a franchise record for consecutive wins to begin a season.

Frisco will return to action Wednesday night at Riders Field, where left-hander Blake Townsend is scheduled to make his club debut against Midland’s Wei-En Lin.

As the early season unfolds, the RoughRiders have established a clear identity—disciplined offense, dominant pitching and consistent execution. If Tuesday night’s performance is any indication, Frisco’s strong start is no fluke.

For now, the RoughRiders remain perfect—and firmly in control.
