NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — After being blanked in the series opener, the Frisco RoughRiders look to bounce back Wednesday night as they continue their six-game road set against the Arkansas Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CST, as Frisco seeks to end a brief slide and recapture momentum in the Texas League South.
The RoughRiders (12-22 second half, 50-52 overall) dropped Tuesday’s opener 3-0, held scoreless for the seventh time this season. Arkansas (19-15, 54-49 overall), meanwhile, leaned on timely hitting and a strong bullpen to claim the opener and further solidify its playoff positioning.
Arkansas Takes Game One
Tuesday’s contest was decided in the bottom of the fourth, when the Travelers mounted a three-run surge. Bill Knight opened the scoring with an RBI single, followed by Nick Raposo’s run-scoring double to left-center. Blake Rambusch then capped the rally with an RBI single to give Arkansas a 3-0 cushion.
That was all the offense Arkansas would need, as the RoughRiders managed just five hits on the night and failed to advance a runner past second base after the fifth inning.
Travelers reliever Charlie Beilenson (2-2) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief, and closer Jimmy Kingsbury notched his seventh save of the season with a clean ninth.
For Frisco, Josh Trentadue (0-1) took the loss in his first start with the club, giving up all three runs during that pivotal fourth inning. Still, the bullpen offered a silver lining, as Avery Weems and Bryan Magdaleno combined for two shutout innings to keep the game within reach.
Moller Staying Hot
Despite the loss, catcher Ian Moller continued his solid stretch at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. It marked his third multi-hit game in his last six starts and a bright spot for a Frisco offense that has struggled to string together rallies in recent outings.
The RoughRiders enter Wednesday’s contest having scored just two runs over their last 27 innings. Improved production will be essential against a Travelers team that ranks among the league leaders in run prevention.
On the Mound
Frisco will likely turn to right-hander Leandro Lopez (0-0, 0.90 ERA), one of the club’s most effective arms since joining the rotation. Lopez has allowed just one earned run over 10 innings this season and will be tasked with slowing down a Travelers lineup that thrives on contact and aggressive baserunning.
Arkansas counters with lefty Adam Seminaris (5-5, 2.73 ERA), a reliable presence in the rotation who’s been especially effective at home. Seminaris is known for his ability to mix speeds and limit hard contact, which could challenge a Frisco lineup still searching for consistency.
Keys to the Game
-
Start Fast: Frisco has fallen behind early in three of its last four games. Getting on the board first could shift momentum and ease pressure on a young pitching staff.
-
Capitalizing on Opportunities: The Riders went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position Tuesday. Finding timely hits in key moments will be critical.
-
Build on Bullpen Strength: Frisco’s bullpen has quietly strung together several strong outings. If the offense can offer support, that trend could tip the balance.
What’s at Stake
For Frisco, Wednesday’s contest presents a chance to even the series and chip away at the second-half standings. With just over a month remaining in the regular season, every game carries added weight. Arkansas, meanwhile, can take control of the series and continue building on its recent surge.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. from Dickey-Stephens Park as the RoughRiders look to snap their road woes and re-establish rhythm against a playoff-hungry Travelers squad.
