MiLB Game Preview: RoughRiders Look to Bounce Back in Series Finale Against Travelers

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (August 10, 2025) – The Frisco RoughRiders will aim to close out their road trip on a positive note Sunday afternoon when they face the Arkansas Travelers in the finale of a six-game set at Dickey-Stephens Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. CT, with Arkansas holding a 3-2 edge in the series following Saturday night’s dramatic 6-5 walk-off victory.

Frisco (15-23, 53-53) appeared poised for a win in Game 5 after building a four-run lead behind a steady mix of timely hitting and strong starting pitching. Cam Cauley opened the scoring in the third inning with an RBI single, while Aaron Zavala provided a two-run double in the fifth to stretch the lead to 3-0. An inning later, Luis Mieses blasted his 12th home run of the season to make it 4-0.

Arkansas (20-18, 55-52), however, clawed back in the late innings. The Travelers broke through in the bottom of the eighth with a three-run homer from Colt Emerson, followed immediately by an RBI single from Bill Knight to knot the game at 4-4.

Extra innings brought more drama. In the top of the 11th, Frainyer Chavez crossed home on a bases-loaded walk by Keyber Rodriguez, giving Frisco a 5-4 advantage. But in the bottom half, Arkansas capitalized again as Blake Rambusch delivered a walk-off, two-RBI single to secure the comeback win.

Jimmy Kingsbury (4-2) picked up the win in relief for Arkansas, while Joey Danielson (1-1) took the loss, allowing two runs in the deciding frame.

Series Storylines

The RoughRiders have battled tightly with the Travelers all week, with three of the first five games decided by just one run. Frisco’s offense has shown flashes of dominance, led by Zavala’s clutch hitting—he has four hits in the series, three of which have driven in runs—and Mieses’ continued power surge.

Defensively, the bullpen has faced heavy workloads, with the Travelers’ late-inning rallies forcing Frisco to rely on multiple arms in high-leverage situations. Containing Arkansas’ middle-of-the-order threats, especially Emerson, will be key to securing a win in the finale.

Probable Pitching Matchup

Arkansas will send right-hander Michael Morales (2-5, 4.59 ERA) to the mound. Morales has been steady but not overpowering this season, striking out 62 batters over 86 innings while limiting damage in key spots.

Frisco’s starting pitcher has yet to be announced, but the Riders will likely turn to a combination of bullpen arms to navigate the finale. Jose Corniell, who tossed 4.0 shutout innings earlier in the series, could be in line for a longer look if available.

Keys to the Game

  • Early Offense: Frisco has scored first in three of the past four games and needs to continue setting the tone to take pressure off the bullpen.

  • Bullpen Efficiency: Limiting walks and extra-base hits late will be crucial, as Arkansas has thrived on late-inning rallies throughout the series.

  • Timely Hitting: With runners in scoring position, Frisco must capitalize, especially against a Travelers staff that has shown vulnerability in multi-run innings.

Looking Ahead

Following Sunday’s series finale, the RoughRiders return home for their next homestand at Riders Field, where they’ll face a familiar divisional opponent. With 44 games left in the regular season, every matchup holds weight in the push toward the postseason.

Fans can listen to the action live on the H-E-B Riders Baseball Network at RidersBaseball.com/Broadcast.

Frisco’s goal is clear—regain momentum, finish the road trip strong, and head back to Texas with a series split in hand. A win Sunday would not only salvage the week but also set the tone for the crucial stretch ahead.
