STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | April 7, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders bring momentum—and a statement start—back to Riders Field on Tuesday night as they open a six-game homestand against the Midland RockHounds. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with left-hander Josh Trentadue set to make his season debut against Midland right-hander Kenya Huggins.
Frisco (3-0) enters the series riding one of the most complete opening stretches in franchise history, combining elite pitching with timely offense to sweep the Corpus Christi Hooks on the road. The result marks the club’s first 3-0 start since 2021 and just the fourth such start in franchise history.
Pitching Sets the Identity Early
The RoughRiders’ early success has been built on dominant pitching performances across the rotation.
Leandro Lopez opened the season with 4.2 no-hit innings, Dylan MacLean followed with a strong Double-A debut, and David Davalillo capped the series with 5.1 shutout frames in a 1-0 victory that secured the sweep. Collectively, Frisco’s pitching staff has posted a 0.67 ERA through three games—the best mark in Minor League Baseball among teams with at least three games played.
Even more impressively, the RoughRiders have yet to allow an extra-base hit this season. Opponents have managed just 14 hits, all singles, while Frisco’s staff leads the minors in WHIP at 0.93.
That consistency on the mound has provided a foundation for the club’s early dominance and will be tested against a Midland lineup that has historically posed challenges.
Offense Producing at a Historic Clip
While pitching has anchored the team, the offense has delivered at a record-setting pace.
Through three games, the RoughRiders lead Double-A with 34 hits, setting a franchise record for the most hits through the opening three contests. The team is hitting .298 collectively and has shown an ability to generate production throughout the lineup.
Tucker Mitchell and Keyber Rodriguez have been at the forefront of the offensive surge, each collecting six hits through the first three games—tying a franchise record and placing them among the top hitters in Double-A.
Frisco’s offensive approach has been balanced. The lineup has demonstrated the ability to string together hits, highlighted by a 10-run inning in Friday’s win, while also executing in low-scoring situations, as evidenced by Saturday’s 1-0 victory.
A Different Test in Midland
Despite the strong start, the RoughRiders face a different kind of challenge in Midland.
Historically, the RockHounds have been one of the few teams to consistently neutralize Frisco’s success within the division. Since 2021, the RoughRiders hold a dominant record against most Texas League South opponents, but have played Midland nearly even over that span.
That dynamic adds intrigue to the series opener, as Frisco looks to extend its winning streak while addressing one of its most persistent divisional tests.
Trentadue Takes the Ball
All eyes will be on Trentadue as he makes his first start of the 2026 season. The left-hander is part of a highly regarded rotation that features multiple ranked prospects within the Texas Rangers’ system.
Following the performances of Lopez, MacLean and Davalillo, Trentadue steps into a rotation that has already set a high standard. His ability to maintain that level of execution will be key as Frisco looks to sustain its early momentum.
Building on Early Momentum
The RoughRiders’ opening series in Corpus Christi provided a blueprint for success—dominant pitching, consistent offense and execution in key moments.
Now, returning home, Frisco has an opportunity to build on that momentum in front of its home crowd. The club’s ability to translate its road success to Riders Field could play a critical role in establishing long-term consistency.
A Statement Opportunity
While it remains early in the season, the RoughRiders have already positioned themselves as one of the most balanced teams in Double-A baseball.
Tuesday night’s matchup represents more than just the start of a new series. It is an opportunity for Frisco to extend its winning streak, continue its record-setting pace and reinforce the identity it has established through the first three games.
For a team that has consistently competed at a high level in recent seasons, the 2026 campaign is off to a promising start.
Now, the challenge is sustaining it.
