MiLB Game Recap: Drillers Dominate with 11-Run Outburst to Even Series in Frisco

FRISCO, Texas (June 27, 2025) — The Tulsa Drillers erupted for five runs in the second inning and never looked back, cruising to an 11-0 shutout victory over the Frisco RoughRiders on Friday night at Riders Field. The win evens the series at two games apiece as both teams prepare for Saturday’s pivotal Game 5.

Tulsa (28-45) seized early momentum when Sean McLain cleared the bases with a three-run double, followed by a ground-rule double from Chris Newell and an RBI single off the bat of Damon Keith to cap a five-run second inning.

The Drillers continued to pile on, with Kole Myers lining an RBI single in the third and Newell delivering a sacrifice fly in the fourth to push the lead to 7-0. Tulsa added four more runs in the fifth, highlighted by John Rhodes’ run-scoring single and a wild pitch that allowed Myers to cross the plate. Myers then tacked on a solo home run in the seventh, finishing the night with three hits, three runs, and three RBIs.

With the game out of hand, Frisco (40-32) called upon first baseman Frainyer Chavez to pitch the top of the ninth. Chavez retired the side in order, providing a rare bright spot in an otherwise forgettable night for the RoughRiders.

Jackson Ferris (4-5) earned the win for Tulsa, tossing six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and no walks in a dominant outing. Ryan Lobus (1-2) was charged with the loss, surrendering five earned runs over 1.2 innings in his fourth start of the season.

Notable Performances:

  • Ian Moller extended his hot streak at the plate, now hitting .367 (11-for-30) over his last nine games.

  • Sebastian Walcott swiped his 17th base of the season, marking his fifth stolen base of the series — the most in the Texas League this week.

  • Tulsa’s offense racked up 11 runs on 12 hits, with six different players driving in at least one run.
