FRISCO, Texas (July 1, 2025) — Keith Jones II made a strong first impression in his Double-A debut, but the Frisco RoughRiders came up just short in extra innings, falling to the Arkansas Travelers 6-5 in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Riders Field.
Jones, who was recently promoted from High-A Hub City, went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. The 21-year-old outfielder launched his first Double-A homer in the fourth inning, a solo shot that gave Frisco (2-5, 40-35) a 1-0 advantage.
Arkansas (5-2, 40-36) responded with a four-run fifth, punctuated by a bases-clearing double from Bill Knight. The Travelers added a fourth run on a heads-up steal of home, capitalizing on a defensive breakdown during a rundown.
Frisco clawed back in the late innings. Cam Cauley drilled a solo home run in the seventh, and Sebastian Walcott brought in another run on a fielder’s choice to cut the deficit to 4-3. One inning later, Abimelec Ortiz delivered a game-tying home run — his ninth of the year — to even the score at 4-4.
In the top of the 10th, Knight struck again, delivering a two-out, two-run single that put Arkansas up 6-4. Jones provided a final push for Frisco in the bottom half, plating a run on an RBI single, but Travelers reliever Taylor Floyd slammed the door with two quick outs to earn the save.
Charlie Beilenson (1-0) collected the win for Arkansas, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings. Travis MacGregor (0-2) was charged with the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) in the extra frame.
Frisco starter Ben Anderson went six innings, giving up four runs while tying a season-high with five strikeouts. Arkansas righty Marcelo Perez logged his second quality start of the season, limiting the Riders to one run across six frames.
