MiLB Game Recap: RoughRiders Fall in Extras as Travelers Walk Off 6-5

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (August 9, 2025) – The Frisco RoughRiders saw a four-run lead slip away late, falling 6-5 to the Arkansas Travelers in 11 innings on Saturday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. A two-run walk-off single from Blake Rambusch sealed the win for Arkansas, who improved to 20-18 on the season, while Frisco dropped to 15-23.

RoughRiders Build Early Command
Frisco jumped ahead in the top of the third when Cam Cauley lined an RBI single to center, plating the game’s first run. The Riders extended their advantage in the fifth as Aaron Zavala roped a two-run double into the gap, scoring two and pushing the lead to 3-0.

One inning later, Luis Mieses delivered what appeared to be a backbreaker, launching a solo home run to make it 4-0. The long ball was Mieses’ 12th of the season and continued his recent power surge at the plate.

Travelers Storm Back Late
For much of the night, Frisco’s pitching kept Arkansas in check. Starter Jose Corniell turned in a season-high 4.0 shutout innings, striking out four without allowing a run. The 20-year-old righty has yet to surrender an earned run across 11.2 innings since his promotion to Double-A.

But the game shifted in the bottom of the eighth. Arkansas cut the deficit in a hurry when Colt Emerson drilled a three-run homer to right, trimming Frisco’s lead to 4-3. Moments later, Bill Knight poked an RBI single to left to even the score at 4-4.

Extra-Inning Drama
Neither team could push across a run in the ninth or tenth, setting up a tense 11th inning. Frisco regained the lead when Frainyer Chavez came home on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Keyber Rodriguez, putting the RoughRiders up 5-4.

The advantage was short-lived. In the home half, Arkansas capitalized with runners in scoring position as Rambusch lined a single into the outfield, bringing home the tying and winning runs for the 6-5 final.

Bullpen Battle
Travelers reliever Jimmy Kingsbury (4-2) earned the win after keeping Frisco off the scoreboard aside from the bases-loaded walk in the 11th. RoughRiders reliever Joey Danielson (1-1) was charged with the loss, allowing two runs in the final frame.

Despite the defeat, Daniel Missaki turned in a strong outing from the Frisco bullpen, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings to keep the Riders in the game during the middle frames.

Offensive Standouts
Mieses finished 2-for-5 with a home run, continuing his hot streak in August. Zavala also went 2-for-5, driving in a pair of runs, giving him four hits in the series—three of which have produced RBIs. Cauley’s RBI single in the third extended his recent run of timely hitting.

Extra-Inning Struggles Continue
The loss dropped Frisco to 4-5 in extra-inning games this season. It was also their first defeat of the series after splitting the opening two games.

Series Finale Ahead
The RoughRiders and Travelers wrap up their six-game set on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. Arkansas will send right-hander Michael Morales (2-5, 4.59 ERA) to the mound, while Frisco’s starter has yet to be announced.

With Saturday’s loss, Frisco will look to regroup quickly and close the series on a high note before returning home for their next homestand.
