FRISCO, Texas (August 12, 2025) – The Frisco RoughRiders used a pair of big innings to surge past the Midland RockHounds 7-4 on Tuesday night at Riders Field, securing the series opener in front of their home crowd.
Early Offense Sets the Tone
Midland struck first in the top of the second inning when Jared Dickey lined an RBI single to center, giving the RockHounds (17-23, 56-53) a 1-0 edge. The lead didn’t last long, however, as the RoughRiders (17-23, 55-53) answered with a flurry of offense in the bottom half.
Keyber Rodriguez ripped a two-run single up the middle to put Frisco ahead, and catcher Ian Moller followed with an RBI single to right that extended the margin to 3-1. It marked the beginning of a stretch where the Riders strung together quality at-bats and forced Midland starter Yunior Tur into early trouble.
The momentum carried into the third inning, where Jax Biggers delivered the knockout blow. With the bases loaded, Biggers drilled a line drive into the gap for a three-RBI double, stretching the lead to 6-1 and sending Riders Field into a frenzy. The outburst not only gave Frisco breathing room but also provided Biggers with his first multi-hit game since July 31.
RockHounds Battle Back
Midland clawed their way back in the fifth inning, cutting into the deficit on a two-run double by Tommy White. His opposite-field shot down the line brought the RockHounds within three at 6-3. Frisco quickly responded in the bottom of the inning when Marcus Smith grounded out to score a run, pushing the advantage back to four.
The RockHounds added one final run in the seventh on a Dickey sacrifice fly, but that would be all they could muster against a sharp Frisco bullpen.
Pitching Holds Strong
The Riders leaned on their bullpen to preserve the win after starter Gerardo Carrillo exited early. Ryan Lobus (4-3) earned the victory after 1.1 scoreless innings of relief, stranding runners and keeping Midland from capitalizing in key spots. Carrillo, who tossed 1.2 hitless innings, extended his streak to 14 straight appearances without allowing an earned run.
Tur (2-4) took the loss for Midland after allowing three runs in just 1.2 innings, struggling with command against Frisco’s patient lineup. Avery Weems closed the door for the Riders, retiring the side in order in the ninth to record his third save of the season.
