MiLB Game Recap: Supak Spins Gem, but Frisco Falters Late in 8–7 Loss to Tulsa

FRISCO, Texas (June 29, 2025) — Despite a stellar outing from Trey Supak, the Frisco RoughRiders couldn’t hang on to a five-run lead, falling 8-7 to the Tulsa Drillers in Sunday’s series finale at Riders Field.

Supak delivered one of his best performances of the season, notching his third quality start while striking out eight across six innings and allowing just two runs. He finishes the month of June with a 2.28 ERA, the third-best in the Texas League among qualified pitchers.

Frisco (40-34) built a 7-2 lead behind Supak’s dominance and timely hitting. Marcus Smith sparked the offense in the bottom of the second with a three-run homer, his second of the week, giving the Riders a 3-2 edge. In the seventh, Frisco exploded for four runs as Josh Hatcher drove in two with a sharp single, Frainyer Chavez added an RBI knock, and Jax Biggers contributed with a run-scoring fielder’s choice.

But the wheels came off in the eighth.

Tulsa (30-45) sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring six runs off Frisco relievers. Griffin Lockwood-Powell jumpstarted the rally with a two-run double, followed by an RBI walk from Taylor Young. Kole Myers and John Rhodes capped off the inning with consecutive RBI hits, with Rhodes delivering the eventual game-winning single to give Tulsa an 8-7 lead.

Antonio Knowles (3-1) shut the door for the Drillers, tossing 2.2 hitless innings to earn the win. Gavin Collyer (4-4) took the loss for Frisco, despite recording three strikeouts over 1.2 frames.

Notes to Know:

  • Supak continues to be a rotation anchor, now with a team-best 2.28 ERA in June (min. 25 IP).

  • Reliever Travis MacGregor leads all of Minor League Baseball with 11 holds.
