STWF Sports | SAN ANTONIO, Texas | July 22, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will attempt to rebound from a frustrating series-opening loss when they face the San Antonio Missions on Wednesday night at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium.
First pitch for the second game of the six-game series is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander David Davalillo will start for Frisco, carrying a 1-3 record and 3.86 ERA into the matchup. San Antonio, the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, will counter with left-hander Jamie Hitt, who is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA.
Frisco enters the contest at 12-10 in the second half and 51-39 overall after falling 7-5 in Tuesday’s opener. The RoughRiders created several opportunities to complete a late comeback but could not erase a four-run deficit.
Frainyer Chavez opened the game with a double against Missions starter Eric Yost, and Dylan Dreiling followed with an RBI single to give Frisco an early 1-0 advantage. RoughRiders starter Ben Anderson struck out six of the first nine batters he faced before San Antonio’s offense broke through.
The Missions scored five runs across the third and fourth innings to take control. Malcolm Moore helped Frisco respond in the sixth, launching a towering solo home run against Bernard Jose to cut into the deficit. San Antonio answered when Francisco Acuna delivered a two-run homer, extending the Missions’ lead to 7-3.
Frisco RoughRiders: Aiming for a Strong Comeback
Frisco pushed across two runs in the ninth and loaded the bases, but Harry Gustin entered from the bullpen and escaped the threat to earn his second save.
Despite the loss, Wolff Stadium has been one of Frisco’s most successful road venues in recent seasons. Since 2021, the RoughRiders are 43-19 in San Antonio, producing a .694 winning percentage. Frisco has posted a 2.60 team ERA during that stretch while outscoring the Missions 304-176. The Riders were especially dominant at the ballpark in 2024, finishing 12-1.
Pitching remains one of Frisco’s defining strengths. The RoughRiders rank second in the Texas League with 901 strikeouts and have recorded 181 over their last 15 games, an average of 11.2 per contest. That recent total ranks fourth across Minor League Baseball.
Frisco’s season strikeout total is already the second highest in franchise history through 90 games, trailing only the 932 recorded at the same stage in 2021.
Offensively, the RoughRiders continue to rank among Double-A’s most productive teams. Frisco leads the level with 819 hits and owns a Texas League-best .268 batting average. The club also ranks first in doubles, slugging percentage and OPS while averaging 6.2 runs per game.
The Riders have already established franchise records with 124 home runs through 90 games and their current scoring average. Over their last 22 games, they have hit 41 homers, the most in the Texas League and fourth most in the minors.
Rafe Perich has been central to that power surge. The infielder has hit 10 home runs in his first 40 games with Frisco, with six either tying a game or giving the Riders the lead. Frisco is 9-0 when Perich homers.
He is batting .356 in July with five three-hit performances and has totaled 21 home runs this season, tied for the most in the Rangers organization.
Top Texas prospect Sebastian Walcott is also working his way back into form after returning from right elbow internal brace surgery. Through his first four games, Walcott is 4-for-15 with a homer, three walks, three runs and a stolen base.
Already assured of a postseason appearance after winning the Texas League South Division first-half title, the RoughRiders will look to turn their offensive production into an early advantage Wednesday and continue their long-running success at Wolff Stadium.
