STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | July 28, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders return to Riders Field on Tuesday night looking to regain their offensive rhythm when they open a six-game series against the Corpus Christi Hooks at 7:05 p.m.
Right-hander David Davalillo is scheduled to start for Frisco against Corpus Christi left-hander Trey Dombroski. Davalillo enters the series opener with a 1-3 record and a 3.62 ERA, while Dombroski is 2-3 with a 4.63 ERA for the Hooks, the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
Tuesday’s game will also feature Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager, who is expected to begin his second rehabilitation assignment with Frisco this season. Seager has been sidelined since being placed on the injured list July 1 with a back injury.
The two-time World Series Most Valuable Player appeared in two games for the RoughRiders earlier this season, going 1-for-5 during a brief assignment in June. His return brings additional attention to a Frisco lineup seeking a bounce-back performance after a difficult finish to its road trip.
The RoughRiders were shut out 6-0 by the San Antonio Missions in Sunday’s series finale, settling for a split of the six-game set at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. Frisco dropped to 15-12 in the second half and 54-41 overall.
Neither team produced a baserunner through the first two innings before San Antonio broke through against Blake Townsend in the third. Jake Cunningham delivered the decisive hit with a three-run triple as the Missions built a 4-0 lead.
San Antonio starter Eric Yost held Frisco scoreless over six innings, and Braedon Karpathios added a two-run home run in the eighth. Rafe Perich doubled in the ninth but was left stranded as the RoughRiders suffered their second shutout defeat in three games.
Frisco will attempt to rediscover the offensive form that has made it one of the most productive teams in Double-A this season.
Through 95 games, the RoughRiders lead Double-A with 861 hits and rank first in the Texas League with a .267 batting average. They also lead the league in doubles, slugging percentage and OPS while ranking second with 574 runs.
Frisco’s 127 home runs are already the most in franchise history. However, the Riders have gone three consecutive games without a homer for the first time since a four-game stretch in San Antonio from June 9-12.
Max Wagner remains one of the leading candidates to end that drought. Wagner has hit nine home runs over his last 25 games while posting a .658 slugging percentage and a 1.043 OPS. He tied his career high with his 13th home run of the season July 23.
Yeison Morrobel also enters the series on a productive run. Morrobel has recorded a hit in each of his first eight games with Frisco, batting .367 with three doubles, one home run and four runs scored during the streak.
Rangers top prospect Sebastian Walcott has added another dynamic presence since returning from internal brace surgery on his right elbow. Through eight games, Walcott is batting .364 with four doubles, one home run, five RBIs and two stolen bases.
Dylan Dreiling continues to rank among the Texas League’s leading hitters. The outfielder owns a .290 season average and has batted .361 with seven doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs over his last 16 games.
Frisco’s pitching staff has also remained one of the league’s strongest strikeout units. The RoughRiders rank second in the Texas League with 947 strikeouts, the second-highest total in franchise history through this point of a season.
Davalillo will be tasked with setting the tone against a Corpus Christi club familiar with Frisco’s high-powered lineup. The Riders have already secured a postseason berth after winning the Texas League South Division first-half championship, but the final months of the regular season remain important as the team prepares for another playoff run.
With Seager joining a prospect-filled lineup and Frisco returning home after a frustrating series finale, Tuesday’s matchup offers the RoughRiders an opportunity to reset and begin the homestand with renewed momentum.
