STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| September 13, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will wrap up the 2026 regular season Sunday afternoon with one final matchup against the Wichita Wind Surge at Equity Bank Park, looking to build momentum before turning their attention to the Texas League postseason.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. CT, with left-hander Thomas Ireland set to start for Frisco against Wichita right-hander Preston Johnson.
Ireland enters the finale with a 1-0 record and an 8.51 ERA, while Johnson is 1-3 with a 3.89 ERA.
Frisco comes into Sunday’s game at 33-35 in the second half and 72-64 overall after a 5-1 loss Saturday night. The defeat came one day after the RoughRiders erupted for 14 runs, highlighting the inconsistency that has surfaced at times during the final stretch of the season.
Wichita took control early Saturday by scoring in the first inning for the fifth consecutive game of the series. The Wind Surge built a 5-0 advantage before Arturo Disla broke up the shutout with a solo home run in the ninth.
Despite the loss, Frisco still enters the regular-season finale with one of the most productive offenses in Double-A.
Through 136 games, the RoughRiders lead Double-A with 1,262 hits and a .271 team batting average. Frisco also ranks second in runs scored with 817, averaging 6.0 runs per game. The club has already established franchise records in both runs and home runs, while producing the best on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS marks in recorded franchise history.
A major part of that success has come from outfielder Dylan Dreiling, who has been one of the Texas League’s most dangerous hitters.
Dreiling ranks second in the league with a .310 batting average, second in hits with 146 and fifth in OPS at .892. He has also driven in 84 runs and scored 88 times while hitting 22 home runs, the most by a RoughRiders center fielder in franchise history.
Over his last 49 games, Dreiling is batting .359 with 17 doubles, 11 home runs and 38 RBIs. His recent surge included a 25-game hitting streak, the longest in the Texas League this season and the longest by a Frisco player since 2012.
He has also formed one of the league’s top power combinations with Max Wagner.
Dreiling and Wagner became the first pair of RoughRiders teammates to reach 20 home runs in the same season since 2012. Wagner has 21 homers and has been particularly dangerous from the lower portion of the batting order, with 16 of his home runs coming from the eighth and ninth spots.
Frisco has also received a major boost from the return of top Texas Rangers prospect Sebastian Walcott, who rejoined the lineup after the All-Star break following right elbow surgery. Walcott hit .322 with nine home runs, 13 doubles and 11 stolen bases over his first 36 games of the season.
Pitching, however, has required constant adjustment.
The RoughRiders have used a franchise-record 24 starting pitchers this season, and the rotation enters the finale with a 5.75 ERA. That has placed significant pressure on a bullpen that logged a Double-A-high 134.1 innings in August.
Frisco’s postseason position has already been secured after winning the Texas League South Division first-half title with a 39-29 record. The playoff berth is the organization’s 11th and first since 2024.
Following Sunday’s finale, the RoughRiders will prepare for a Division Series matchup against Amarillo.
For Frisco, the final regular-season game offers one more opportunity to sharpen its offense, settle the pitching staff and carry positive momentum into a postseason run.
