STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | August 15, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will look to build on one of their wildest victories of the season when they host the San Antonio Missions in the fifth game of a six-game series Saturday night at Riders Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT, with right-hander Joey Danielson taking the mound for Frisco against San Antonio right-hander Matthew Watson. Danielson enters at 1-2 with a 7.32 ERA, while Watson is 0-2 with a 7.98 mark.
The series is tied 2-2 after Frisco erased a six-run deficit Friday night in a dramatic 14-12 victory.
San Antonio built a 10-4 lead through six innings, but the RoughRiders responded with one of their biggest offensive outbursts of the year. Frisco collected a season-high 22 hits and scored six runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by three home runs.
Marcus Lee Sang started the late power surge with a three-run homer that pulled Frisco within one. Max Wagner then launched a go-ahead shot before Dylan Dreiling followed immediately with another homer to make it 14-12.
The comeback matched Frisco’s largest of the season and further reinforced the RoughRiders’ reputation as one of Double-A baseball’s most dangerous late-inning offenses.
Frisco RoughRiders’ Late Game Dominance
Frisco has scored 238 runs in the seventh inning or later, the most in Double-A. The club has also produced 92 eighth-inning runs, leading the Texas League.
Wagner has become a major part of that late-game success.
The infielder enters Saturday with a career-high 16 home runs after delivering game-changing blasts twice this week. He hit a walk-off grand slam Wednesday before providing the go-ahead homer Friday.
Over his last 36 games, Wagner is batting .277 with 12 home runs, 30 RBIs and a 1.010 OPS. His 12 homers since June 20 rank fourth in the Texas League.
Dreiling has been equally productive.
The Rangers’ No. 13 prospect carries a nine-game hitting streak into Saturday and is batting .405 during that stretch with four doubles, three home runs and nine RBIs. Over his last 28 games, Dreiling owns a .365 average and 1.108 OPS.
His 19 home runs are the most by a RoughRider since Blaine Crim hit 24 in 2022.
Another dangerous bat is Arturo Disla, who continues one of the strongest stretches of his season.
Since July 10, Disla is batting .330 with 11 doubles, seven home runs and 29 RBIs. He has already established career highs with 20 home runs and 27 doubles and was named the Texas Rangers’ Minor League Player of the Month for July.
The Riders have also welcomed back top Rangers prospect Sebastian Walcott, who returned from the injured list earlier this week. Through his first 15 games of the season, Walcott is hitting .328 with eight doubles, three home runs and a .986 OPS.
Saturday’s focus, however, will not be limited to offense.
Danielson will be tasked with slowing a Missions lineup that has already demonstrated significant power in the series. Friday’s game featured 10 combined home runs, and San Antonio has repeatedly forced Frisco into comeback situations.
If Danielson can limit early damage, the RoughRiders’ lineup has shown it can create pressure throughout the night.
Frisco already owns a postseason berth after capturing the Texas League South Division first-half championship, but the club continues to sharpen its identity heading toward September.
That identity has become increasingly clear.
The RoughRiders possess depth, power and the ability to change a game late.
After Friday’s six-run comeback, Saturday provides another chance for Frisco to take control of the series and keep its momentum rolling at Riders Field.
