STWF Sports | MIDLAND, Texas August 9, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will look to shake off a recent offensive slowdown and close their six-game road series against the Midland RockHounds on a positive note Sunday afternoon at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT, with left-hander Blake Townsend (4-5, 5.28 ERA) taking the mound for Frisco against Midland right-hander Ben Hansen (1-0, 6.23 ERA).
Frisco enters the series finale at 20-18 in the second half and 59-47 overall after being shut out 5-0 on Saturday night. The loss continued a difficult stretch for a RoughRiders offense that opened the series with an explosive 14-run, 18-hit performance Tuesday.
Understanding the Frisco RoughRiders’ Recent Performance
Since then, the bats have cooled considerably.
Over the last four games, Frisco has produced only seven runs, an average of 1.8 per contest, while being shut out twice. The RoughRiders have also gone four consecutive games without a home run, matching their longest homerless stretch of the season. The seven runs during that span are tied for the fewest across Minor League Baseball.
Saturday’s setback saw Frisco remain within striking distance through the first five innings. Cole Stasio allowed Midland’s opening run on a second-inning passed ball before the RockHounds broke the game open with four runs in the sixth. Justin Riemer delivered an RBI single before Cameron Leary’s bases-loaded hit and a Frisco defensive error helped stretch Midland’s advantage to 5-0.
Zane Taylor earned the victory after throwing five shutout innings.
Sunday offers Frisco another opportunity to rediscover the offense that has made the club one of Double-A baseball’s most productive teams this season.
Few hitters have been more important to that attack than Arturo Disla. Since July 10, Disla is batting .372 with nine doubles, six home runs and 26 RBIs over 23 games. During that span, he leads the Texas League in batting average and ranks near the top of the circuit in slugging percentage, OPS, hits, doubles, extra-base hits and total bases.
Disla is batting .304 overall with a .921 OPS and has already matched his career highs with 19 home runs and 25 doubles.
Dylan Dreiling has also developed into one of Frisco’s most consistent offensive threats. The Rangers’ No. 10 prospect is hitting .291 and ranks among the Texas League leaders in hits, RBIs, total bases and runs scored. Over his last 25 games, Dreiling has posted a .343 average with 10 doubles, six homers and 19 RBIs.
Meanwhile, Max Wagner remains another potential source of power. Wagner has nine home runs across his last 32 games and owns a .979 OPS during that stretch. His 13 homers this season have already matched his career high.
Despite the recent drought, Frisco’s season-long offensive numbers remain impressive. The RoughRiders have set a franchise record with 139 home runs through 106 games while averaging approximately 5.8 runs per contest. They also rank second in Double-A with 954 hits and lead the Texas League with 196 doubles.
Frisco has been particularly dangerous late in games, scoring a Double-A-best 220 runs in the seventh inning or later.
The pitching staff has also provided plenty of swing-and-miss ability, entering Sunday with 1,053 strikeouts, the second-highest total in franchise history. Townsend will look to add to that mark while giving Frisco an opportunity to finish the series with a victory.
The season series between the clubs has remained competitive. Frisco is 11-12 against Midland, but the RoughRiders have outscored the RockHounds 124-115 despite being out-homered 24-19.
With a postseason berth already secured after winning the Texas League South Division first-half championship, Sunday’s finale represents another chance for the RoughRiders to regain their offensive rhythm and build momentum for the stretch run.
