STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | August 21, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will try to change the direction of their current homestand Friday night when they host the Wichita Wind Surge in the fourth game of a six-game series at Riders Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT, with right-hander Cole Stasio (1-1, 4.70 ERA) set to start for Frisco against Wichita right-hander Ty Langenberg (1-4, 3.64).

The RoughRiders enter the matchup at 24-24 in the second half and 63-53 overall after dropping the first three games of the series. Wichita has repeatedly taken advantage of early scoring opportunities, averaging nine runs per game during the series while collecting 11 hits per contest.

Challenges Ahead for the Frisco RoughRiders

Thursday’s game featured the return of Jack Leiter on a Major League rehab assignment, but Wichita again found enough offense to build separation. Leiter struck out five over three-plus innings, while Marcus Lee Sang and Yeison Morrobel each homered for Frisco.

For the first time this season, the RoughRiders have allowed at least eight runs in three consecutive games.

That has placed additional pressure on an offense that has otherwise remained one of the most productive units in Double-A.

Frisco continues to lead Double-A with 1,061 hits and a .269 team batting average. The Riders are also second in runs with 694, averaging nearly six per game, while leading the Texas League in doubles and slugging percentage.

One of the biggest reasons has been Dylan Dreiling.

The Rangers’ No. 13 prospect has surged into the upper tier of the Texas League offensive rankings, sitting second in batting average at .310 and fourth in OPS at .916. He also ranks among league leaders in hits, total bases, runs and RBIs.

Dreiling has been especially dangerous during his current 13-game hitting streak, batting .444 with five home runs, five doubles and 14 RBIs. Over his last 32 games, he owns a 1.161 OPS.

His 21 home runs are the most by a RoughRiders player since Blaine Crim hit 24 in 2022 and the most by a primary Frisco outfielder since Mike Bianucci hit 30 in 2011.

Max Wagner has also remained a major power threat.

Wagner has already set a career high with 18 home runs and has hit 14 over his last 41 games. He has been particularly productive late in games, helping fuel one of Frisco’s strongest offensive trends this season.

The RoughRiders lead Double-A with 248 runs scored in the seventh inning or later and have been especially effective in the eighth. Frisco has scored 99 eighth-inning runs overall and 58 during the second half.

That late-inning production could become especially important Friday if Stasio and the bullpen can keep the game within reach.

The lineup also continues to feature top Rangers prospect Sebastian Walcott, who has returned from the injured list and is working his way back into rhythm. Through his first 20 games this season, Walcott has posted a .280 average with nine doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs.

Despite the current three-game skid, Frisco’s larger postseason picture remains secure.

The RoughRiders clinched the Texas League South Division first-half championship on June 18, earning the franchise’s 11th playoff berth and first since 2024. Frisco finished the first half at 39-29.

Now the focus shifts toward sharpening execution heading into the postseason.

With Stasio on the mound and one of Double-A’s deepest offenses behind him, Friday gives the RoughRiders another chance to reset the series and finally break through against Wichita.
