STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| September 4, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders return to Riders Field on Friday night looking to build on one of their wildest victories of the season when they face the Amarillo Sod Poodles in the fourth game of a six-game series.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Austin Roberts (3-3, 3.25 ERA) is slated to start for Frisco against Amarillo right-hander Brian Curley (2-3, 7.13).
Frisco enters the matchup with momentum after outlasting Amarillo, 14-12, on Thursday in a back-and-forth offensive showcase.
The Sod Poodles jumped ahead early with a six-run second inning, highlighted by a Trent Youngblood grand slam. Frisco quickly responded, trimming the deficit on a Max Wagner groundout and a Luke Hanson RBI single before erupting for five runs in the third inning.
Arturo Disla powered the rally with a two-run homer, while Marcus Lee Sang and Sebastian Walcott added run-scoring hits to pull the RoughRiders even at 7-7.
Hanson later gave Frisco the lead with a safety squeeze in the fifth inning. Malcolm Moore added a two-run homer in the sixth, and Dylan Dreiling drove in another run with a double in the seventh to push the Riders in front, 11-7.
Amarillo stormed back with five runs in the eighth to regain a 12-11 lead, but Hanson delivered the decisive swing. His three-run homer in the bottom half gave Frisco a 14-12 advantage it would not surrender.
The win continued a season-long trend of late-inning production for the RoughRiders.
The Impact of the Frisco RoughRiders’ Offense
Frisco leads Double-A with 272 runs scored in the seventh inning or later and has produced 107 runs in the eighth inning alone. Since July 1, the Riders have recorded eight go-ahead, game-winning hits in the eighth inning.
The offense has been among the strongest in Double-A all season.
Through 128 games, Frisco leads Double-A with 1,193 hits and a .273 batting average while ranking second with 782 runs, an average of 6.0 per game. The club also leads the Texas League in doubles and slugging percentage while ranking second in OPS.
Dreiling remains at the center of that production.
The Rangers’ No. 13 prospect owns a 24-game hitting streak and leads the Texas League with a .318 batting average. He has also posted a .924 OPS, 22 home runs and 83 RBIs while continuing one of the strongest offensive stretches in the league.
Over his last 43 games, Dreiling is batting .387 with 17 doubles, 11 home runs and 37 RBIs. His current hitting streak is the longest in the Texas League this season and the longest by a RoughRider since 2012.
Wagner has provided plenty of power alongside him.
With 20 home runs, Wagner and Dreiling are the first pair of Frisco teammates to reach the 20-homer mark in the same season since Mike Olt and Chris McGuiness in 2012. Wagner has hit 17 homers over his last 51 games and continues to provide significant production from the lower portion of the lineup.
Walcott has also made an immediate impact since returning from elbow surgery. The Rangers’ top prospect is riding a nine-game hitting streak and is batting .405 during that span with four doubles and four home runs.
Pitching remains one of the key areas to watch Friday. Frisco leaned heavily on its bullpen throughout August, when relievers logged a Double-A-high 134.1 innings. The starters posted a 6.39 ERA during the month, increasing the importance of Roberts providing length against an Amarillo lineup that showed Thursday how quickly it can put runs on the board.
Already postseason bound after winning the Texas League South Division first-half title, the RoughRiders are now focused on sharpening their game ahead of October.
With the bats surging and another packed night expected at Riders Field, Friday offers Frisco another opportunity to continue building momentum against a dangerous Amarillo club.
