STWF Sports | MIDLAND, Texas | August 6, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will look to regain control of their road series Thursday night when they face the Midland RockHounds in the third game of a six-game set at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. Left-hander Dylan MacLean will start for Frisco, entering the contest with a 7-2 record and a 4.52 ERA. Midland will counter with right-hander Nathan Dettmer, who is 0-2 with an 8.68 ERA.
The series is tied 1-1 after Midland responded to Frisco’s 14-run outburst in Tuesday’s opener with a convincing 9-1 victory Wednesday night.
Frisco enters Thursday at 19-16 in the second half and 58-45 overall, while Midland sits at 16-19 and 48-55.
Frisco RoughRiders Seek Consistency for Playoff Push
The RoughRiders never found their offensive rhythm Wednesday.
Midland scored a run in the first inning against D.J. McCarty before Euribiel Angeles delivered a three-run home run in the third to make it 4-0. The RockHounds then added three more runs in the sixth and single runs in the seventh and eighth.
Keith Jones II finally put Frisco on the board with an RBI double in the eighth, but Midland starter Jamie Arnold had already set the tone with 5.2 scoreless innings and a career-high nine strikeouts.
Frisco will now turn to MacLean in hopes of stabilizing the series.
The season matchup between the clubs has been remarkably even. Frisco and Midland are tied 10-10 against one another in 2026, though the RoughRiders have outscored the RockHounds 118-102 despite being out-homered 23-19.
Jones has been one of Frisco’s most effective hitters in the matchup. In 11 games against Midland, he is batting .400 with a .489 on-base percentage and 14 RBIs.
The RoughRiders still bring one of Double-A’s most dangerous offenses into Thursday’s game.
Frisco has 929 hits through 103 games, second-most in Double-A, while ranking second in the Texas League in batting average at .266 and second in runs with 617. The Riders have also hit 139 home runs, the most in franchise history at this point in a season.
Max Wagner remains one of the club’s most dangerous power threats.
Over his last 31 games, Wagner is batting .264 with nine home runs and 21 RBIs. His 13 home runs from the eighth and ninth spots in the batting order are tied for the most in Minor League Baseball.
Dylan Dreiling continues to produce at a high level as well. The outfielder is batting .293 and ranks among the Texas League leaders in hits, total bases and OPS. Over his last 23 games, he has hit .355 with nine doubles, six home runs and 17 RBIs.
Yeison Morrobel has also remained productive since joining Frisco from High-A Hub City, hitting .300 through his first 16 games with six doubles and two homers.
The RoughRiders’ pitching staff continues to pile up strikeouts, entering Thursday with 1,023 on the season. That total is the second-highest in franchise history through 103 games.
Frisco has also been especially dangerous late, leading Double-A with 214 runs scored in the seventh inning or later.
With a postseason berth already secured after winning the Texas League South Division first half, the RoughRiders are focused on sharpening their consistency heading toward September.
Thursday’s matchup offers an immediate opportunity to respond after Wednesday’s lopsided loss and reclaim the edge in what has been an evenly played season series against Midland.
