STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | July 31, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will look to respond after a difficult night at Riders Field when they host the Corpus Christi Hooks at 7:05 p.m. Friday in the fourth game of their six-game series.
Right-hander Aidan Curry is scheduled to start for Frisco against Corpus Christi right-hander Nolan DeVos. Curry enters with a 3-1 record and a 5.51 ERA, while DeVos brings a 2-0 mark and a 2.16 ERA into the matchup for the Hooks, the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
Frisco still holds a 2-1 advantage in the series despite suffering a 16-4 defeat Thursday. The RoughRiders won the first two games, including a dramatic 13-12 victory Wednesday, before Corpus Christi broke through with a commanding offensive performance.
The Hooks scored once in the first inning against Dylan MacLean, but Arturo Disla immediately answered with a broken-bat RBI single in the bottom half. Walker Janek restored Corpus Christi’s lead with a solo home run in the third, beginning a productive night for the Hooks catcher.
Corpus Christi then took control with nine combined runs across the fifth and sixth innings. Chase Call delivered the biggest swing during the surge with a grand slam, helping turn a close game into a double-digit advantage.
Janek added his second home run in the seventh inning as the Hooks continued to create separation. MacLean took the loss and dropped to 7-2, while Railin Perez earned the victory after contributing a scoreless inning in relief.
Although the outcome was decided early, Frisco continued to show its power. Yeison Morrobel hit a solo home run in the sixth, and Disla followed with a two-run shot in the seventh.
Morrobel has made an immediate impact since his promotion from High-A Hub City. He has recorded a hit in 10 of his first 11 games with Frisco and is batting .350 with five doubles, two home runs, four RBIs and a 1.034 OPS.
Disla’s performance provided another reminder of the depth in a RoughRiders lineup that has produced historic power numbers throughout the season.
Frisco has hit 53 home runs over its last 30 games, the highest total in the Texas League during that stretch. The Riders’ 136 home runs through 98 games are already the most in franchise history.
Frisco RoughRiders’ Historic Power Surge
Eight Frisco players have reached double figures in home runs, also setting a club record. From 2023 through 2025, the RoughRiders had only seven players combined reach that mark through the first 98 games of those seasons.
Max Wagner remains one of the lineup’s top power threats. He has nine home runs over his last 28 games while posting a .649 slugging percentage and a 1.036 OPS. Wagner reached his career-high 13th homer in 58 fewer games than he needed to reach the same total in 2023.
Sebastian Walcott has also provided a major spark since returning from internal brace surgery on his right elbow. The Texas Rangers’ top prospect is batting .356 through 11 games with five doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs, three stolen bases and 13 runs scored.
Dylan Dreiling enters Friday ranked among the Texas League leaders in batting average, hits, total bases and runs. Over his last 19 games, he is batting .346 with seven doubles, five home runs and 13 RBIs.
The RoughRiders remain tied for the Double-A lead with 888 hits and pace the Texas League in batting average, doubles, slugging percentage and OPS. Their franchise-record average of 6.1 runs per game has helped produce one of the most dangerous offenses in the minors.
Frisco has been especially productive late, scoring a Double-A-best 204 runs in the seventh inning or later.
Curry will attempt to settle the game after the pitching staff surrendered 16 runs Thursday. Frisco ranks second in the Texas League with 974 strikeouts, the second-highest total in franchise history through 98 games.
Already guaranteed a postseason appearance after winning the South Division first-half championship, the RoughRiders will seek a sharper all-around performance Friday and an opportunity to move one step closer to securing the series.
