STWF Sports | MIDLAND, Texas (August 7, 2026) — The Frisco RoughRiders will look to bounce back Friday night when they face the Midland RockHounds in the fourth game of their six-game series at Momentum Bank Ballpark.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. Right-hander Aidan Curry will take the mound for Frisco with a 3-2 record and a 5.13 ERA, while Midland will counter with right-hander Cory Avant, who enters at 2-6 with a 6.22 ERA.

Frisco comes into the matchup at 19-17 in the second half and 58-46 overall after being shut out 4-0 on Thursday. Midland improved to 17-19 and 49-55 with the victory and now leads the season series 11-10.

Frisco RoughRiders: Key to Reigniting Their Offense

The RoughRiders received a solid start from Dylan MacLean in Thursday’s loss, but defensive miscues and a quiet offense proved costly.

MacLean allowed an unearned run in the first inning after an error, marking the seventh time in nine games Frisco surrendered a run in the opening frame. He settled in from there and kept Midland off the board until Luke Mann hit a solo home run in the sixth.

MacLean finished with 5.2 innings, allowing two runs — one earned — while striking out four and issuing no walks.

Midland added two more runs in the seventh following two Frisco errors and a pair of hits. Nathan Dettmer handled the rest on the mound, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts before Kenya Huggins closed the game with 2.2 shutout frames.

Friday’s biggest challenge for Frisco will be rediscovering the offense that exploded for 14 runs in Tuesday’s series opener.

The RoughRiders have scored just one run over the last two games after opening the series with a 14-4 victory. Despite that brief slump, Frisco remains one of the most productive offensive teams in Double-A.

Arturo Disla continues to lead the charge.

Since July 10, Disla is batting .397 with nine doubles, six home runs and 25 RBIs over 21 games. During that stretch, he leads the Texas League in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, hits, doubles, extra-base hits and total bases.

For the season, Disla is hitting .310 with a .940 OPS and has already matched his season highs in home runs and doubles.

Keith Jones II has also been especially productive against Midland. In 12 games against the RockHounds, Jones is hitting .405 with a .500 on-base percentage, two home runs and 14 RBIs.

Frisco’s lineup still features plenty of additional firepower.

Max Wagner has nine home runs over his last 32 games and continues to rank among the league’s top power producers. Dylan Dreiling remains one of the Texas League’s most consistent hitters, batting .293 while ranking among league leaders in hits, total bases and OPS.

The RoughRiders have hit 139 home runs through 104 games, the most in franchise history at this point in a season. Eight different Frisco players have reached double figures, another club record.

Frisco also continues to dominate late-game offense, leading Double-A with 214 runs scored in the seventh inning or later.

On the pitching side, the Riders enter Friday with 1,032 strikeouts, the second-most in franchise history through 104 games.

Curry will now be tasked with giving Frisco a chance to even the series.

With a postseason berth already secured after winning the Texas League South Division first-half title, the RoughRiders are focused on building consistency heading toward the stretch run.

Friday provides another opportunity to regain momentum, wake up the offense and prevent Midland from extending its series advantage.
