STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| September 3, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders return to Riders Field on Thursday night with a chance to take control of their six-game series against the Amarillo Sod Poodles after an offensive explosion evened the set at one game apiece.
Frisco RoughRiders’ Path to Playoff Success
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT, with right-hander Cole Stasio set to start for Frisco. Stasio enters the matchup at 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA. Amarillo will counter with right-hander Junior Sanchez, who is 5-3 with a 4.98 ERA.
Frisco comes into the game at 29-30 in the second half and 68-59 overall following Wednesday’s 12-9 victory. The RoughRiders erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Gleider Figuereo in his Double-A debut.
Figuereo finished the night with three hits and a walk, making an immediate impact after his promotion. His grand slam also gave him 20 home runs on the season across all levels.
The RoughRiders received plenty of additional power in the win.
Sebastian Walcott homered in the first inning, extending his streak to four consecutive games with a home run, the longest such run of his Minor League career. Through 29 games this season, the Rangers’ top prospect is batting .316 with a 1.001 OPS, seven home runs and 16 RBIs.
Walcott is also riding an eight-game hitting streak, batting .452 during that stretch with three doubles, four home runs and 18 runs scored.
Dylan Dreiling remains another major storyline.
The Rangers’ No. 13 prospect enters Thursday with a 23-game hitting streak, the longest in the Texas League this season and the longest by a RoughRider since 2012. During the streak, Dreiling is batting .423 with nine doubles, six home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
For the season, he leads the Texas League with a .318 batting average and ranks among the league leaders in OPS, hits, total bases and runs. His 22 home runs are the most by a RoughRider since Blaine Crim hit 24 in 2022.
Frisco’s lineup continues to be one of the most productive in Double-A.
Through 127 games, the RoughRiders lead Double-A with 1,178 hits and a .271 batting average. They also rank second with 768 runs and lead the Texas League in doubles and slugging percentage.
Max Wagner has added to that production with 20 home runs, giving Frisco two players with at least 20 homers in the same season for the first time since 2012.
The offense has carried a significant portion of the load lately. Since July 29, Frisco is 13-18, with 12 of those victories coming when the RoughRiders have scored at least six runs.
That makes Stasio’s start especially important.
If he can give Frisco quality innings and limit Amarillo’s chances early, the Riders’ offense has shown more than enough firepower to create separation.
The bullpen has also carried a heavy workload throughout the second half after throwing 134.1 innings in August, the most in Double-A.
With a postseason berth already secured, Frisco’s focus continues to shift toward consistency and preparation for the Texas League playoffs.
Thursday’s game offers the RoughRiders another chance to do both while moving ahead in the series against Amarillo.
