MiLB Preview: Frisco RoughRiders Open Six-Game Road Series Against San Antonio Missions

STWF Sports | SAN ANTONIO, Texas | July 21, 2026 The Frisco RoughRiders begin another important Texas League road test Tuesday night when they face the San Antonio Missions at 7:05 p.m. from Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium.

Right-hander Ben Anderson is scheduled to start the opening game of the six-game series for Frisco. Anderson enters the matchup with an 0-3 record and a 4.96 ERA. San Antonio, the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, will counter with right-hander Eric Yost, who is 4-2 with a 3.34 ERA.

Frisco arrives in San Antonio with momentum after closing its latest homestand with a 6-4 comeback victory over the Tulsa Drillers on Sunday at Riders Field. The win gave the RoughRiders the series and secured the season series against one of the Texas League’s top clubs.

Frisco RoughRiders: A Team to Watch in the Texas League

Sebastian Walcott provided an early spark by launching a solo home run in the first inning. It was another encouraging moment for the Texas Rangers’ top prospect, who recently returned after undergoing internal brace surgery on his right elbow during the offseason.

Tulsa answered with three runs in the second inning and carried a 4-2 advantage into the eighth, but Frisco’s offense delivered another late-game response. The RoughRiders loaded the bases with no outs before Arturo Disla tied the game with a two-run single to right field. Keith Jones II followed with a two-run single that put Frisco ahead for good.

Eric Loomis finished the victory with two strikeouts in the ninth inning to earn his second save.

The comeback continued a season-long trend for a Frisco offense that has been especially dangerous in the late innings. The RoughRiders have scored 192 runs in the seventh inning or later, the highest total among Double-A clubs. Frisco has also scored 20 eighth-inning runs over its last nine games, more than any other Minor League team during that span.

That late production complements one of the most powerful offenses in franchise history. The RoughRiders have hit 123 home runs through 89 games, establishing a new club record. Their average of 6.2 runs per game is also the best in franchise history and ranks among the strongest offensive marks in Double-A baseball over the last two decades.

Frisco has totaled 40 home runs over its last 21 games, leading the Texas League and ranking third across Minor League Baseball during that stretch.

The RoughRiders have also produced a league-leading 813 hits while pacing Double-A in batting average at .269. Frisco leads the Texas League in doubles, slugging percentage and OPS while ranking second in both home runs and total runs.

Rafe Perich remains one of the lineup’s most productive hitters. He has homered 10 times in his first 39 games with Frisco, with six of those home runs either tying the score or giving the RoughRiders the lead. Frisco is 9-0 in games in which Perich has homered.

Perich is batting .404 in July with five three-hit performances. Since May 31, he ranks among the Texas League leaders in nearly every major offensive category, including slugging percentage, OPS, doubles, extra-base hits, total bases and runs scored.

Walcott’s return has added another dynamic presence. Through his first three games of the season, he is 4-for-11 with a home run, two walks, three runs and a stolen base.

Frisco has enjoyed substantial success at Wolff Stadium in recent seasons. Since 2021, the RoughRiders are 43-18 in San Antonio, producing a .705 winning percentage while posting a 2.52 team ERA. Frisco went 12-1 at the ballpark during the 2024 season.

Already assured of a postseason appearance after winning the Texas League South Division first-half title, the RoughRiders will look to continue building momentum against a familiar divisional opponent. Tuesday’s opener offers another opportunity for Frisco’s powerful lineup and strikeout-heavy pitching staff to set the tone for a demanding six-game road series.
