STWF Sports | SAN ANTONIO, Texas | July 23, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will look to take their first lead in a six-game series against the San Antonio Missions when the clubs meet Thursday night at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Left-hander Dylan MacLean will start for Frisco, carrying a 6-1 record and 4.69 ERA into the matchup. San Antonio, the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, will counter with right-hander Matthew Watson, who is set to make his first appearance at the level this season.

The series is tied at one game apiece after Frisco secured a 7-5 victory Wednesday night. The RoughRiders improved to 13-10 in the second half and 52-39 overall by building a seven-run lead across the first three innings and surviving a late San Antonio comeback.

Arturo Disla delivered the game’s biggest early swing, launching a three-run home run over the right-center-field wall in the opening inning. The RoughRiders added three more runs in the second on RBI doubles from Keith Jones II and Sebastian Walcott before Malcolm Moore’s run-scoring single extended the advantage to 7-0 in the third.

David Davalillo provided four strong innings in his return to Double-A, striking out six while allowing one run and one walk. San Antonio scored in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to pull within two, but Eric Loomis protected the lead in the ninth and earned his third save.

Thursday’s pitching assignment gives MacLean an opportunity to help Frisco maintain its recent success at Wolff Stadium. Since 2021, the RoughRiders are 44-19 in San Antonio, producing a .698 winning percentage. Frisco has posted a 2.59 team ERA at the ballpark during that stretch and has outscored the Missions 311-181.

The RoughRiders were especially dominant at Wolff Stadium in 2024, finishing 12-1.

Frisco’s pitching staff continues to rank among the Texas League’s most productive strikeout groups. The Riders have recorded 914 strikeouts this season, the second-highest total in franchise history through 91 games. Only the 2021 club had more at the same point, totaling 942.

Over their last 15 games, the RoughRiders have collected 181 strikeouts, an average of 11.2 per contest and the fourth-highest total across Minor League Baseball during that span.

Offensively, Frisco enters Thursday as one of Double-A’s most complete lineups. The RoughRiders lead the level with 828 hits and rank first in the Texas League with a .268 batting average. They also lead the league in doubles, slugging percentage and OPS while averaging 6.2 runs per game.

Spotlight on the Frisco RoughRiders’ Stellar Performance

Frisco has hit 125 home runs through 91 games, already a franchise record. The Riders have connected for 42 homers over their last 23 contests, the most in the Texas League and fifth most in Minor League Baseball.

The club’s ability to score early has been another defining strength. Frisco’s 63 first-inning runs rank second in the league, and the Riders have scored in the opening frame 32 times. They have produced multiple first-inning runs in 15 games.

Walcott has provided an additional boost since returning from internal brace surgery on his right elbow. The Texas Rangers’ top prospect is batting .300 through his first five games, going 6-for-20 with a home run, two RBIs, three walks, four runs and a stolen base.

Rafe Perich remains one of Frisco’s most dangerous hitters. He has hit 10 home runs in his first 41 games with the RoughRiders, with six either tying the score or giving Frisco the lead. The Riders are 9-0 when Perich homers.

Perich’s 21 home runs are tied for the most in the Rangers organization. Since May 31, he ranks among the Texas League leaders in slugging percentage, OPS, extra-base hits, total bases and runs scored.

Already guaranteed a postseason appearance after winning the South Division first-half title, Frisco will attempt to build on Wednesday’s response and continue its strong history in San Antonio.
