STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | July 30, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will attempt to extend their winning streak and tighten their grip on the series Thursday night when they host the Corpus Christi Hooks at 7:05 p.m. in the third game of a six-game set at Riders Field.
Frisco RoughRiders Aim for Continued Success
Left-hander Dylan MacLean is scheduled to start for Frisco against Corpus Christi right-hander Brett Gillis. MacLean enters the matchup with a 7-1 record and a 4.44 ERA, while Gillis is 5-2 with a 3.66 ERA for the Hooks, the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
Frisco carries a 2-0 series lead after surviving one of its wildest games of the season Wednesday. The RoughRiders scored nine runs in the sixth inning and launched four home runs before holding off an eight-run Corpus Christi rally in a 13-12 victory.
The win improved Frisco to 17-12 in the second half and 56-41 overall.
Corpus Christi scored twice in the opening inning, but Sebastian Walcott answered with a solo home run in the bottom half. Rafe Perich tied the game with another solo shot in the fourth before Trevor Austin restored the Hooks’ lead with a two-run homer in the fifth.
Frisco’s offense then overwhelmed the Corpus Christi bullpen.
The first eight RoughRiders reached safely during a nine-run sixth inning. Perich, Ian Moller, Yeison Morrobel, Keith Jones II and Corey Joyce each delivered run-scoring hits before Arturo Disla capped the rally with a three-run home run.
Dylan Dreiling added a two-run blast in the eighth, pushing the lead to 13-4. Those insurance runs proved crucial when Corpus Christi opened the ninth with six consecutive doubles and scored eight times.
With the tying run at second base, Bryan Magdaleno struck out the final hitter to preserve the victory.
Frisco’s nine-run inning was its second frame of at least nine runs this season, with both coming against Corpus Christi. The RoughRiders are the only Texas League club with multiple nine-run innings this year and one of only two Double-A teams to accomplish the feat twice against the same opponent.
Walcott enters Thursday as one of the hottest hitters in the organization. The Texas Rangers’ top prospect has homered in consecutive games and is batting .366 through his first 10 contests since returning from internal brace surgery on his right elbow.
Walcott has collected five doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs and 11 runs while posting a 1.129 OPS. His combination of power and speed has immediately strengthened an already dangerous Frisco lineup.
Dreiling has also homered in back-to-back games. Over his last 18 contests, the outfielder is batting .370 with seven doubles, five home runs and 13 RBIs. He ranks among the Texas League leaders in batting average, hits, total bases, OPS and runs scored.
Morrobel continues to provide consistent production as well. He has recorded a hit in nine of his first 10 games with Frisco and is batting .342 with five doubles and a .928 OPS.
The RoughRiders’ power surge has reached historic levels. Frisco has hit 51 home runs over its last 29 games and owns a franchise-record 134 homers through 97 contests. Eight players have reached double figures, also setting a club record.
Frisco leads Double-A with 880 hits and tops the Texas League in batting average, doubles, slugging percentage and OPS. The Riders are averaging a franchise-record 6.1 runs per game and have scored a Double-A-best 204 runs in the seventh inning or later.
MacLean will look to provide stability after Wednesday’s chaotic finish. Frisco’s pitching staff ranks second in the Texas League with 966 strikeouts, the second-highest total in franchise history through 97 games.
Already assured of a postseason berth after winning the South Division first-half title, the RoughRiders will seek a cleaner all-around performance Thursday while continuing their pursuit of a third consecutive victory.
