STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | July 28, 2026 — Corey Seager made an immediate impact in his return to Riders Field, joining Dylan Dreiling and Sebastian Walcott in a three-home run performance that carried the Frisco RoughRiders to a 5-3 victory over the Corpus Christi Hooks on Tuesday night.

Corey Seager’s Impact on the Game

Seager homered in his first game of a Major League rehabilitation assignment, while Walcott delivered the decisive blow with a three-run shot in the seventh inning. The series-opening win improved Frisco to 16-12 in the second half and 55-41 overall.

Corpus Christi struck first against Frisco starter David Davalillo, pushing across a run in the opening inning. Davalillo avoided further damage and settled into the game, allowing the RoughRiders’ offense time to respond.

That answer came in the bottom of the second when Dreiling launched a solo home run to even the score at 1-1. The blast continued a productive stretch for the outfielder, who entered the homestand as one of the Texas League’s leading hitters.

The game remained tied until Seager stepped to the plate in the fifth inning.

Beginning his latest rehabilitation stint after being sidelined with lower back inflammation, the Texas Rangers shortstop drove a solo home run deep beyond the InTouch Home Run Terrace in left field. The shot gave Frisco a 2-1 advantage and marked Seager’s first home run in a RoughRiders uniform.

Seager completed five innings of work and finished 1-for-2 with the home run and a walk. His appearance offered the Rangers an opportunity to evaluate his timing and comfort at the plate as he works toward a return to the Major League lineup.

Frisco’s lead did not hold through the seventh.

Yamal Encarnacion delivered a run-scoring triple against Eric Loomis as Corpus Christi moved back in front, 3-2. The Hooks’ rally placed pressure on the RoughRiders to respond late, but Frisco quickly produced the game’s defining swing.

After the Riders put two runners aboard in the bottom of the seventh, Walcott turned on a pitch from Joey Mancini and drove a three-run home run out of Riders Field. The blast erased the deficit and gave Frisco a 5-3 lead.

Walcott’s home run was his second of the season and added another highlight to his impressive return from offseason internal brace surgery. The Rangers’ top prospect recorded multiple hits for the sixth time in his first nine Double-A games back with the club.

His ability to deliver in a high-leverage situation continued a strong opening stretch that has featured power, speed and consistent contact. Walcott’s seventh-inning swing also completed a night in which three of Frisco’s most dangerous hitters left the ballpark.

Loomis earned the victory despite allowing Corpus Christi to briefly take the lead, improving to 2-2. Mancini was charged with the loss and fell to 1-2 after surrendering Walcott’s go-ahead homer.

Janser Lara protected the two-run advantage in the ninth, recording his third save of the season. His scoreless final inning completed another strong finish for a Frisco pitching staff that limited the Hooks after their late rally.

Davalillo gave the RoughRiders five effective innings in the start. The right-hander surrendered only the first-inning run and induced two double plays, preventing Corpus Christi from creating a larger early advantage.

The combination of efficient pitching and timely power allowed Frisco to rebound from being shut out in its previous game. The RoughRiders had entered the series opener without a home run in three consecutive contests before Dreiling, Seager and Walcott ended that drought in emphatic fashion.

Tuesday’s victory gave Frisco an early lead in the six-game series and provided Riders Field with a memorable night featuring a two-time World Series Most Valuable Player and two prominent members of the Rangers’ farm system.

The RoughRiders will pursue their second consecutive win Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Frisco has not announced its starting pitcher, while Corpus Christi is scheduled to send right-hander Cole Hertzler, who enters with a 1-1 record and a 2.86 ERA, to the mound.
