STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | August 13, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders came out swinging Thursday night at Riders Field, but a six-run response from the San Antonio Missions flipped the game and sent Frisco to an 8-6 loss in the third contest of a six-game series.
Frisco dropped to 21-21 in the second half and 60-50 overall, while San Antonio improved to 20-22 and 51-60.
The RoughRiders could not have asked for a better start.
Frisco RoughRiders Show Strong Offensive Start
Frisco struck for four runs in the bottom of the first inning against San Antonio starter Eric Yost, using three extra-base hits and a home run to immediately put the Missions under pressure.
Sebastian Walcott, Dylan Dreiling and Arturo Disla each doubled during the inning before Rafe Perich delivered the biggest blow, launching a two-run home run to give the RoughRiders a 4-0 advantage.
It marked the fifth time this season Frisco has scored at least four runs in the opening inning.
That momentum did not last long.
San Antonio answered with a massive surge against Frisco starter Dylan MacLean.
The Missions used three two-run home runs over a two-inning stretch to erase the deficit and move in front 6-4. The barrage quickly changed the complexion of the game and ended MacLean’s night earlier than Frisco had hoped.
MacLean was charged with the loss, falling to 7-4.
San Antonio added another run in the fourth inning, extending the lead to 7-4 and forcing Frisco to spend the rest of the night trying to climb back into the game.
The RoughRiders did manage to cut into the deficit.
In the sixth inning, Malcolm Moore delivered an RBI single to make it 7-5 and bring Frisco within striking distance.
From there, the bullpen did its job in keeping the game manageable.
Zach Bryant, Jonathan Brand, Janser Lara and Austin Roberts combined for 7.2 innings of relief while allowing just one earned run. Their work kept the Missions from completely pulling away and gave the RoughRiders offense repeated opportunities to mount another late comeback.
Both teams scored in the ninth inning.
San Antonio added an insurance run before Dreiling answered in the bottom half with a solo home run, trimming the deficit to 8-6.
The blast was Dreiling’s 18th home run of the season, extending his career high and strengthening his hold on the team lead.
Frisco was unable to get any closer.
San Antonio reliever Josh Mallitz finished the game and earned his sixth save, shutting down the RoughRiders’ final push.
The loss came one night after Frisco produced one of its most dramatic victories of the season, rallying from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Missions 7-3 on a walk-off grand slam by Max Wagner.
Thursday followed a much different script.
Instead of needing a late comeback after a slow offensive start, the RoughRiders grabbed control immediately, only to see San Antonio answer with its own explosive inning.
The defeat leaves Frisco trailing the series 2-1 with three games remaining at Riders Field.
The RoughRiders will try to even the series Friday night when right-hander Cole Stasio takes the mound. Stasio enters with a 1-1 record and a 4.43 ERA.
San Antonio will counter with left-hander Jamie Hitt, who is 2-1 with a 5.87 ERA.
First pitch for game four is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT at Riders Field.
