STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| September 6, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders closed the home portion of their regular-season schedule on a winning note Sunday afternoon, defeating the Amarillo Sod Poodles 3-2 at Riders Field to earn a split of the six-game series.

Frisco RoughRiders Make a Strong Statement in Their Final Home Game

Frisco improved to 31-32 in the second half and 70-61 overall, while Amarillo fell to 36-27 and 72-59. The victory also secured a third consecutive winning season at home for the RoughRiders, who finished 35-34 at Riders Field.

Amarillo struck first in the opening inning against Frisco starter Thomas Ireland.

Avery Owusu-Asiedu delivered the early damage with a two-run home run, giving the Sod Poodles a quick 2-0 advantage before the RoughRiders had come to the plate.

Frisco answered immediately.

Sebastian Walcott led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run against Amarillo starter David Hagaman, cutting the deficit in half and giving the home crowd an early jolt. The blast was Walcott’s third home run of the series and his third leadoff homer over the last two weeks.

After the difficult first inning, Ireland settled into the game.

The left-hander covered more than four innings and did not allow another run after Owusu-Asiedu’s homer. That stabilization proved important, giving Frisco’s offense enough time to erase the early deficit.

The RoughRiders finally broke through again in the fourth inning.

Marcus Lee Sang delivered an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2 before Luke Hanson followed with another run-scoring single, giving Frisco its first lead of the afternoon at 3-2.

From there, the RoughRiders’ bullpen took control.

Josh Trentadue, Jonathan Brand, Joey Danielson and Bryan Magdaleno combined to keep Amarillo scoreless the rest of the way, protecting the one-run advantage and preventing the Sod Poodles from mounting another late rally.

Trentadue earned the victory to improve to 4-2, while Hagaman took the loss and fell to 1-2.

Magdaleno handled the final outs and recorded his third save of the season, finishing off a strong collective effort from the Frisco relief corps.

The bullpen performance was particularly significant considering how much Frisco’s relievers have been asked to carry throughout the second half. On Sunday, they responded by shutting down an Amarillo lineup that had repeatedly found ways to produce late offense earlier in the series.

Walcott continued to provide one of Frisco’s biggest offensive sparks.

His first-inning homer immediately shifted momentum after Amarillo’s two-run opening frame and further highlighted the impact he has made since returning to the lineup. With three home runs in the series, the Rangers’ top prospect once again showed the combination of power and aggressiveness that has made him one of the most closely watched players in the organization.

Lee Sang and Hanson supplied the decisive hits, turning a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead with consecutive RBI singles in the fourth.

The win gave Frisco a satisfying finish to its regular-season home schedule and helped the club avoid dropping the series to Amarillo.

Already playoff-bound after capturing the Texas League South Division first-half championship, the RoughRiders now turn their attention to the final stretch of the regular season.

Frisco will have Monday off before opening a six-game road series against the Wichita Wind Surge on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Equity Bank Park.

With postseason baseball ahead, the RoughRiders leave Riders Field with momentum, another winning home record and a reminder that timely hitting and strong bullpen work can still make the difference in close games.
