STWF Sports| SPRINGDALE, Ark.| August 29, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders were one strike away from extending Saturday night’s matchup, but a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth sent the Northwest Arkansas Naturals to an 8-7 walk-off victory at Arvest Ballpark.
The loss was Frisco’s second straight and dropped the RoughRiders to 27-29 in the second half and 66-58 overall. Northwest Arkansas improved to 24-32 and 53-70.
Highlights of the Frisco RoughRiders’ Performance
The Naturals jumped on Frisco starter Aidan Curry immediately, opening the bottom of the first inning with four consecutive hits and pushing across three runs. Curry settled in after the early damage, giving the RoughRiders a chance to recover.
That response finally arrived in the fourth.
Frisco erupted for five runs on five straight hits against Northwest Arkansas starter Grant Gambrell. Marcus Lee Sang and Max Wagner delivered the biggest swings of the inning, both launching home runs as the RoughRiders turned a 3-0 deficit into a 5-3 lead.
The home runs continued productive seasons for both hitters. Lee Sang’s blast was his 15th of the year, while Wagner connected for his 20th, extending career highs for each player.
Frisco carried the two-run advantage into the sixth, but Northwest Arkansas began to chip away.
Connor Scott launched a solo home run against Jonathan Brand in the bottom of the sixth to trim the RoughRiders’ lead to 5-4. One inning later, Javier Vaz delivered the biggest hit of the night for the Naturals, ripping a three-run double that pushed Northwest Arkansas in front 7-5.
The RoughRiders refused to go quietly.
Frisco cut into the deficit in the eighth when a wild pitch allowed a run to score. The Riders then found another unconventional way to tie the game in the ninth, scoring on a passed ball to make it 7-7.
That comeback gave Frisco an opportunity to force extra innings, but Northwest Arkansas responded in the bottom half.
With Janser Lara on the mound, the Naturals moved the winning run into scoring position before a wild pitch brought home the deciding run and ended the game.
The loss overshadowed another strong night for several Frisco hitters.
Dylan Dreiling continued one of the hottest stretches in the Texas League, collecting two singles to extend his hitting streak to 20 games. The streak is now one of the longest by a RoughRiders player in recent franchise history and continues a remarkable second-half surge for the outfielder.
Yeison Morrobel also stayed hot, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Since joining Frisco, Morrobel has provided steady production and another dangerous bat in a lineup that remains among the most productive in Double-A.
Wagner’s 20th home run also marked another milestone in what has become a career season. He has emerged as one of Frisco’s top power threats, particularly in the second half, while Lee Sang’s homer added further depth to a lineup capable of producing runs in bunches.
Saturday’s defeat leaves Frisco trailing the six-game series 3-2 entering Sunday’s finale.
The RoughRiders will look to salvage a split when the teams meet again at 2:05 p.m. at Arvest Ballpark. Neither club had announced a starting pitcher for the finale.
With a postseason berth already secured, Frisco’s final regular-season stretch continues to serve as an opportunity to build consistency and momentum before the Texas League playoffs begin.
