STWF Sports | MIDLAND, Texas | August 9, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders came within three outs of closing their road trip with a victory, but the Midland RockHounds rallied in extra innings to secure a 5-4 walk-off win Sunday afternoon at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
Upcoming Challenges for the Frisco RoughRiders
Justin Riemer delivered the decisive blow in the bottom of the 10th inning, lining a walk-off single up the middle to hand Frisco its fourth loss in the six-game series.
The RoughRiders dropped to 20-19 in the second half and 59-48 overall, while Midland improved to 19-20 and 51-56.
Frisco struck first in the second inning when Corey Joyce came through with an RBI single, giving the RoughRiders an early 1-0 advantage. The lead did not last long, however, as Riemer answered in the bottom half with an RBI single of his own to even the game at 1-1.
The RoughRiders regained control in the fourth.
Keith Jones II delivered an RBI single to push Frisco back in front, and the Riders added another insurance run two innings later when Malcolm Moore drove in a run with an RBI double. The extra-base hit extended the lead to 3-1 and placed Frisco in position to finish the series with a road victory.
Starting pitcher Blake Townsend did his part to protect the advantage.
The left-hander turned in one of his strongest outings of the season, working six innings while surrendering only one run on three hits. Townsend struck out four and walked three, recording his fourth quality start of the year. Frisco has totaled 11 quality starts as a team this season.
Midland finally broke through against the RoughRiders bullpen in the seventh inning. The RockHounds pushed across two runs to erase Frisco’s lead and tie the game at 3-3.
Neither side was able to score again in regulation, sending the series finale into extra innings.
Frisco immediately capitalized in the top of the 10th. With the automatic runner in scoring position, Yeison Morrobel delivered an RBI single against Midland reliever Will Johnston, giving the RoughRiders a 4-3 lead and another opportunity to close the door.
The RockHounds responded once more.
Bobby Boser brought home the tying run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning, setting the stage for Riemer. With Midland threatening, Riemer sent a single through the middle of the infield to score the winning run and end the game.
Johnston earned the victory for Midland and improved to 3-3. Dustin Saenz took the loss for Frisco, falling to 1-1.
Jones continued to provide production at the plate, finishing with two hits, including a double and a single. Rafe Perich also recorded a multi-hit afternoon with a double and a single.
The loss completed a challenging series for the RoughRiders, who dropped four of six games in Midland. It marked only Frisco’s third series loss of the season and its first since falling to Northwest Arkansas in early May.
Despite Sunday’s disappointment, Townsend’s performance offered an encouraging takeaway as Frisco prepares for the next portion of its schedule. His six-inning effort gave the RoughRiders length and helped keep the game within their control until the late innings.
Frisco will now return home following an off day and begin a two-week homestand Tuesday, August 11, against the San Antonio Missions, the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
First pitch at Riders Field is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.
